A mismatch from the beginning. Griffin is way to slow. Silva lurked on the outside the whole time and made mince meat out of Griffin. It is difficult to engage a counter striker like Silva if you are slow and have minimal punching power, like Griffin.

Have to agree. It was like watching a bear with its teeth and claws pulled. Silva was playing to the crowd. Arms down, darting in and dropping him. Craziness.

thats just absurd because fedor would kill him. BUT the only reason you are suggesting that he is GOD as you say is because he beat forrest who is a 205er i was just saying he (forrest)is not one of the top 205ers..thats all

he owned forrest in a way no one else has at 205. Don't be a hater. Maybe a 100% Rampage would have done the same thing, who knows?

i don;t really think i;m hating. just telling the truth. silva is a great fighter but he has been built up into something by the ufc. he is NOT the best pound for pound fighter in the world...did you see him lose in pride

i would put machida above him for sure

Success against Silva depends on not falling into his trap and letting him work you from the outside. Griffin is slow and for his size possess very little strength in his take downs and his punching power. The best plan against silva would be the one Henderson used against his in the first round of their fight. A strong grappler who can smother Silva on the ground while avoiding unnecessary damage can beat him. Henderson lost because he deviated from the plan and starting taking unnecessary hits.

He can be beaten, it is just going to take a particular type of fighter who is patient and isn't going to chase him around the ring. Silva's style depends on his speed and his opponents impatiences because he sure as hell isn't going to engage first.

Machida is to smart to fall into Silva's trap, that is true. However, I can't imagine anyone enjoying watching two men circle each other without ever throwing a punch for 15 plus minutes. Ultimately, that is the dilemma when fighting someone like Silva: do I wade in or do I stay on the outside. Whenever I hears a fighter say that the best way to beat Silva is to pressure him on the feet I know that fighter has lost the fight already, particularly if he is slow.

I think Rampage has a good chance at beating him. Rampage might get the best of an exchange because of his punching power. In any exchange with Silva, for every punch that lands, I should clarify by saying any punch that lands flush, Silva is going to land two, three or even more. Over the course of a fight a fighter with limited punching power is going to come out of these exchanges the loser. Rampage though, he has some real power, great take downs and a solid chin as well. Styles make fights and that would be a match up I would like to see.

Rampage doesn't strike me as being smart enough. He would have a strength/power advantage, but if it's true that AS walks around at 220, it might not be enough. AS just has too many skills. Of course, Rampages power is far greater than Forrest's, but there has been plenty of fights where it wasn't enough.
