Are you suggesting that doing 140 kg (around 308 Lbs) on the squat for reps is difficult? You said your European champ level bber friend is having a hard time doing this
315x10 reps on the squat is nothing phenomenal, and not that difficult for a lot of lifters who train legs consistently. I'm surprised you think this is a large amount kyomu.
I remember learning the lesson hard way...
First time I trained with Jen Herrald (last name maybe not correctly spelled) - circa 1988-1989...
I would have never believed that 5'2'' (on a good day) woman could do lifts like that (she was a fucking powerhouse that squats over 500 pounds routinely in her workouts)...And my training partner at the time (David Pletcher) knew how stupid I could be claiming that I cannot loose to ANY women in ANY lift...so he invited her to train with us...
Let me put it just this way: I was puking after her warm up and as my stubborn ass never quits - I was up for a long day.... I went set after set...puking and getting right back for next set, and next...and when she put 495 (5 plates each side) - and did 10 perfect reps I looked at David and through tears asked: WTF?
He said - you haven't seen nothing yet...and than show started...Every single exercise, every single muscle group - she would outlift both of us...Than he told me to watch the tape when she attempted bench press record of Bev Francis - in 80's...I believe it was 397 pounds...
It was intermission in Mr. San Diego and her husband Paul Harrel, powerlifter himself, announced to the audience that his wife Jen will attempt to break Bev's World record bench...asking for support from the audience...
Spotters gave her a lift off...Four hundred pounds exactly...
She lowered the bar, waited for signal and started pushing...she was suffering so bar must be going up for possibly 10 seconds...with crazy cheers from the audience...as she locked her elbows and got 3 white flags for good lift...she did 10 perfect reps with NEW world record?

??
Obviously, that was the show...They knew that she is far better than 397 and they didn't want just to break the record - but to make statement...
My next "wake-up" call was in China...1991.
I went to Oriental Tour with about 6-7 IFBB pros and top amateurs - with ONE IFBB female representative - Shelly Beatty.
Two top amateurs by the name of Ronnie Coleman

were there, Flex Wheeler (still amateur) was there, JJ Marsh, Frank Hillebrant, Alq Gurley...and I am not sure who else...but first day Shelly asked me if I want to join her for legs...and certainly I wanted to show-off (I was "free agent

" at the time so I figured she is the only female - I better be on a good side with her...
Besides everything else - she had spectacular legs (hams, glutes...indicating that she probably does deep squats routinely - but common - she is a ....GIRL....I just qualified for my first Olympia...my legs were my strongest point...I thought I'll have it easy...Well...you could imagine what happened...I was having worse time of my life while she was having a blast - playing with weight I could hardly move it...
She kicked my ass fair and square (I am not sure if by the end of the workout she was giving me mouth to mouth CPR as I was laying on he floor almost unconscious or ...never mind the details...).
I was NOT going to embarrass myself again - so I didn't train with her no more - but Flex and Alq heard about it, so they were teasing me, making jokes about me loosing to a girl...so I challenge them next day (back to back leg training).
Deal was - they go first and than when they finish I would add their reps (both completing the exercise and adding their reps as a total would be my target amount of reps +1) and than do ONE MORE.
So, with great risk to have those guys deny what I am saying (after 18 years) - I managed to do just that - beat their total by one rep in every exercise...day after GIRL kicked my ass - big time...
First day I went to Calgary to propose to my present wife - she took me to the gym...She did legs and needless to say I learned my lesson and didn't say anything...She did 135 lbs for 20, 185 for 15, 225 for 12, and 275 for 8...That was June 1996.
I just wanted to share this - for few cocky guys to realize "what's up"...
Talk is cheap - Hic Rhodos, Hic Salta " (here is Rhodos, here you jump...or show us what you claim that you could do...one of my favorite latin quotations - I mentioned on Fit Show so many times...Come to Koloseum - and show what you are made of...if you really insist...and Kyomu - you'll be special guest - trust me
