Yes,its a mess. However can the government correct it?Obama yesterday actually said UPS and FED EX compete with the post office and do fine ,as a reason why a public option wont put private companies out of buisiness. The problem there is,the post office has lost 7 billion each of the last two years. If Obama thinks thats an example of the government showing an ability to run or even oversee anything he might want to look again and use a better example.

We currently spend 2.5 more than any other country on healthcare.

So... and answer to our problems is to spend another additional trillion dollars?

Maybe we need to take a hard look at how we currently spend our money instead of placing a heavier tax burden on Americans.

The post office's annual budget is 70 billion and it's projected losses for 2009 and 20120 is 7 billion/year.  (It hasn't lost 7 billion in the last 2 years http://www.theepochtimes.com/n2/content/view/20892/

FED EX has lost more than the post office relative to its size.  They're down 20+%

FedEx reported quarterly revenue of $7.85 billion, down more than 20% from $9.87 billion a year earlier.

I agree absolutley.  One big cost killer is the middle man - Private insurance.  Those billions of dollars lining the pockets of the CEOs comes from somewhere.

Another cost killer is technology - the advent and application of new medical treatments.  At least that's what I've read.

If people knew how private insurance already rations care, limits doctor choice and inflates insurance costs, they'd skewer them.

But hey, someone's gotta sponsor all those million dollar golf tournaments.

Hey W8,

I'm lifting again after a slight interruption - right rotator cuff injury and tendon injury in left pec.  I swear lifting keeps me sane.

How about yourself?

I started lifting (seriously) again myself. It was a nice break while I got to enjoy other stuff.

Looking forward to agreeing to disagree with you in future discussions.  :)
