bills pile up for friend that got jumped

long story short got a friend thats a full time student(no insurance).Walking home from campus a few months ago he got jumped by 4-5 guys.He ended up in the ER jaw wired shut couple cracked ribs broken nose.Cops said they thought it was a completely random beating from a gang.apparently not the first time this has happened recently.Anyways fast forward a few months and my buddies got around 6-7 grand in medical bills from getting jumped.Talk about a bad deal.My question?What would be different if this scenario had played out under nationalized health care?

Regarding health care, your friend would not have gotten 7 grand in medical bills under the Obama plan.  He could have used that 7 grand to help pay for his legal defense for capping the bastards who jumped him.

I agree.We do have concealed carry law in My state which I fully support and utilize.However by law you can't take them onto the school grounds (and many other places) which I find to be complete bullshit.He's a decent size kid that can hold his own but was completly blindsided by these assholes.

With Single Payer, what every single Industrialized nation Other than us pretty much has, he would be covered and paid for.  This is NOT what is currently being offered.


Eventually we will have Single Payer as that is the ONLY way to SAVE billions in Healthcare, keep costs at bay and ensure no Man, Woman or Child ever goes without paid care.

It may take a decade before the citizens realize this or longer.  Americans are pretty stupid especially when it comes to facts and certainly when it comes to comparing their standards to the rest of the world (something they rarely do because they can never admit they are not number one in all things).

The current plans being offered are not much different at all from what we have at all and in fact the only difference is another Insurance Option that is a government contract to a Private Insurance Company.  So you will not see any difference other than Insurance Companies "pledging" to reduce abuse and fraud and "pledging" to lower their premiums.

This is NOT Universal Healthcare in my opinion and the Republican "outrage" is pointless as the plan changes nothing other than eliminating Pre-Existing Conditions and Premiums will be a little cheaper. NOT MUCH cheaper at all.

Obama knows all of this and does support a single payer system, but the Giant of Private Insurance has gotten too big just as the Giant Banks grew too big.


Obama can hopefully set the course for ending Private Insurance stranglehold on Health Insurance.  People should NOT have an Insurance Company dictating which doctors they can and cannot see from a small localized pool.

With Single Payer, anyone can go to ANY doctor of their choosing. ANY doctor and it is paid for.  The United States currently pays MORE THAN TWICE as much per person for Healthcare compared to ANY SINGLE PAYER SYSTEM and they get half rate results. (72nd in the world out of 191 Countries according to the WHO)

There just seems to be something fundamentally wrong when a country can give billions in foreign aid, but basically tell it's own citizenry f.u.

Look into Single Payer.  It is THE ONLY method that Saves Billions of dollars and gives Patients full freedom, coverage and payment with the best absolute care in the world.  The current plans are not much different at all from what we have.

Why?were talking about law abiding adults here not high school kids.Has not allowing guns onto school campus stopped any of the school shootings?In fact I would argue that not allowing them increase the chances of the type of school shootings we've seen.Some idiot that plans on walking in a school and blowing people away could care less if theres a law saying not to bring a gun in.However he would think twice if he knew there was potential of others defending themselves with there own firearm.How many lives would have been saved at all these school shootings had there been people exercising there right to Bear arms?
