How fast is 9.58 in mph? And how fast was he going at certain parts, like up to 60 meters? I know that they have broken down some sprinters times and the like and some were going 27 mph, I think Bolt, might be up to 30-33 mph.

Sounds about right, at this rate I think in the next few yrs, sprinters may get up to 35 mph...

You know that they have been "speeding" up the tracks to try and erase Ben Johnson's time...Which of course has been broken a while ago...This action has hurt the enduro runners.

Yeah distance runners have always had the bad end of the stick. Remember in the late 70's early 80's all tracks were built at high altitude so people could break the sprint records, must have sucked to have been a long distance runner back then. I have no doubt these more bouncy tracks help the sprinters. The blue look for this track was pretty cool actually.

nice HD copy of the race.

He doesn't take steroids.
He has been amazing people since he was a young teenager...contrary to popular belief, he didn't 'come from nowhere.'
I find it very sad that you can observe a feat so amazing and dismiss it, because of your preconceived ideas.  :(

Oh brother  ::)

Bolt hadn't even run a 100m race until 2 years ago. He was a 200 and 400m runner his whole career until his coach suggested he try the 100.

yeah, damn Bolt's PR was 9.69, yet he runs here a 9.58. Gay's has the American record, as was stated, but was beat by 9 Meters :o

You're living in a dream world my friend. Of course he does its not even a question that should be debated, the thing is that people think because someone uses roids it makes them less of an athlete, so they get all defensive when trying to defend his achievements. So let me be clear.

This guy is the greatest track and field athlete that has ever lived, he lives in his own stratosphere, we may never see another like him.

So what if he takes gear, everyone else in the race was on it too so not like he had an unfair advantage. My wish is that people would just be honest about it.

wrong.  usa BS media already said this guy is the best with his 8 golds with a 7-1 record.

you don't know that he doesn't...I believe he trains in the US...but the US athletes have the stigma of cheaters in the US media, who are very ignorant of the drug game, so i believe the US athetes are now probably  either off the sauce or are taking lower doses...but even I don't know, that is pure speculation on my part.

Actually this could be true because of all the shit that happened with Conte. However with the Americans losing to the Chinese at the last Oympics (home venue aside), i would think the Americans will lower the testing in order to win gold. The problem i think is everyone in America seems to want to know everyone else's business and they are the clean, great country (despite almost everyone being on some form of addiction whether it be painkillers, anti-dep, caffine etc. ;)) which hurts the true sportpeople.

23.3 was his average speed over 100m not his top speed achieved during the race

As natural as Phil heath.  It's amazing how in the last few years this record has had the shit beaten out of it from Maurice Green, Asafa Powell, that other american dude and now bolt.  How the fuck can bolt be all natural and best American athletes with the best training facilities and coaches + all of the drugs they got caught taking by at least 2/5 of a second?  Unreal.

all getbandwagon while he is breaking records.  lets see the responses when the s##t hit the wall on this dude. he would have beat a jacked ben johnson by 5-7meters even with that crazy start he had.

Bolts speed between 70 - 80 metres was timed at 49 kph or 30 mph.

This was the fastest part of his race.

What an incredible feat.

This thread is pointless! We all know Levrone would smoke Usain Bolt's ass in a race.
