I'm going to be a guest at the 3-day Adventure Con in October in Tennessee....I wonder if Lou will be there, since he hits many comic conventions and all...

I was going to attend a few with Mike to autograph some covers, but ended up moving to Fla before we could put it together.

Do you know Mike Mayhew?

What do most Pro's do at conventions and shows?? Is Lou one of the only ones to charge??

i'm assuming most other people there are to pimp a product (comic book line, series, tv show, movie, etc) so they have nothing to charge for, so to speak.  louie's promoting nothing but himself, so he has to charge.  i wonder if he even makes enough to pay for the booth.

What about the Vegas Porn conventions? Do you have to pay to take pictures with your favorite pornstars?

Lou makes a pretty good buck selling autographs....

Thats not the issue. Nor do I condemn him for doing so....simple supply and demand.

My issue is with him being OUTSIDE the booth and lacking the common decency to take a damn picture WITH a fan by their own camera...especially when he was nowhere near his booth, and there was no one else around.

I only know from comic conventions; I've never been to a fitness expo of any sort (yet).  At comic shows, Lou is considered a "media guest," which lumps him with actors, actresses, models, and wrestlers.  There are media guests, and there are comic book professional guests.  Most media guests do charge (amount varies depending on how "cool" you are), but it's usually for the merchandise at their table.  Autographs are almost always free if you buy something on their table.  MOST will gladly take a picture with you with your own camera for free.  I've never run into a media guest who wouldn't let me take a picture with them for free if you politely ask, and I've even got signed items before for no charge.   Lou seems to be the exception with his strange/rude policies.

Chick--I've never met Mike although I believe we may have attended the same comic convention here or there.  Usually it gets quite busy signing/sketching for fans that you don't get a chance to get around too much, though I wouldn't be surprised to meet him eventually sooner or later.  You would have a ball signing comics with your likeness to fans; I have models (hot young ones!) work my table occasionally and sign prints as well.

Was that one "on the house"?

My experience with Lou is that if I go up to him and ask for a picture, he will tell me it costs money.  However, if I show him my press pass, I can take a picture, etc.   I didn't bother even going to say hello, I just snapped the pic and went on my way.  Shooting backstage pics, and NPC stage shots, I dont have as much time as I wanted to.  However, with the limited time I did have, I wanted to say hello and take pictures of others. Here are some other pics from the Europa...

I don't know anyone else that would charge you for just taking a picture with you at these expos, and that includes UFC 100 expo or any bodybuilding expo.  They will charge you $10 or more if you want an autographed picture or even an autograph, which I agree with 100%.  But just to take a picture of you with someone, that is different.

Oh, I take it back... I had one girl at UFC 100, she was a Playboy model, who asked me for $10 if I wanted to take her picture.  I looked at her, took the picture anyway (she didnt look up), and then said 'I truly feel sorry for you' and laughed.  It just wasnt worth it.

Like UFC 100 or any expo, you may a cover charge to get into the convention ($30 or whatever), and if you wait in line, they are move than happy for you to take a picture with them.  Autographs, pictures, movies - all cost extra.

Its just amazing how he continues to get away with this $20 pic routine when he's not even at a booth.
I'm surprised the rest of the BBing industry don't ostracize him for being a douche'

Hate to admit it but I'm actually starting to feel bad for Lou.  What a way to make a living, especially when he should be retired and enjoying himself, if only he had the money to do it.  He must be about ready to shoot himself in the head.

Are you working on the Green Lantern - Blackest night series?
I just started reading GL

Wll you be there at the con in Canada? I think they're promoting GL as well

Yeah I'm involved in it, mostly bouncing between GL and GL Corps every month.  Was thinking about doing the Canada show but can't fit it into my schedule....unfortunate since I recently obtained a passport.  :(

Yep....saw him myself...at my booth, talking to Jerome as a cute little figure girl all of 20-21 standing with her two friends and her parents....asked Lou to take a picture with her, and abruptly pointed over to his booth and said "you can a buy a picture there..." and turned his back on her....

Unfortunatly, all the money in the world can't buy CLASS

Oh shit, with all Jokes aside, did he really do that, Chick?........that's really sad. I didn't know Lou was that poor and Low

I'd love to see what Lou would do if someone just ignored everything he said and just kept taking pictures,  That would be a great sequence of him getting all pissed off.  And video tape it too and put on YouTube.  What is he going to do?  Nothing.

Good question.  He not stupid enough to beat someone up; maybe chase him down and hold him (that is, if he can even run and catch up to the person) until he can notify security and/or the show promoter. But even then I wonder if Lou explains, "Because he took a picture of me with HIS camera..." will the promoter laugh and also think that Lou is crazy?  :D

I didn't think he would sink that low.
Is money so important to him that he goes into such lengths to get $20?

If I was a billionaire I would buy the rights to the hulk and reproduce every single TV show of the incredible Hulk down to the exact lines.  However I would put Bob Chick in the role as the Hulk and see who was the better HUlk...I would bet the house that Chick would blow the fucking doors off the $20 bandit...
