i think training legs affects the whole body...  releases GH and hormones etc, that can affect growth throughout the body.

then how come naturals always have stick legs (compared to a gym rat who pops 3 dbol a day)?

let's say my legs are 30 inches (i have no clue if that's big or small, just as an example), is there any proof that if i stopped squatting, etc. today that they would go down to 28 or that it would shrink my upper body at all?

i dont think your upper body would shrink and i dont think your upper body gains would be really noticeably affected but i definitely think your legs will shrink down to their original size (over time)

fine, i'll bite.  do you think they'll ever grow another inch or become more defined?  i think it's all genetic.

edit: mike arvilla trained legs for 20 years and look at them.  would him squatting more or not at all change his legs ?

I do what I can, my quads are definitely a weak point compared to my calves and the rest of my body. I just started to hit legs twice a week. It's pretty hard when you are about 6 foot tall, lol.

im not sure what your asking.. do i think my legs will ever grow from what they are now? if thats the question then i dont think, but i know that they will be much larger than they are now. they are pretty thick as it is,  but my hammies arent in proportion and they will be with time, and the overall size is going to be alot bigger as well.

Serious answer - how good you are at squats and how much you get out of them varies from person to person. You'll find a lot of people who don't get much out of squats even though they do the same with textbook form. On the other hand, there are also a lot of people who don't squat or squat heavy, but still have amazing legs.

So you don't have to do squats for legs, but you should definitely incorporate leg training into your workouts, cause as you get stronger in the legs, you get stronger overall and it's good to be balanced. Just try other stuff - sure you'll find a few things that will work for you.

That's just another case like Vince ;) JK, I actually respect both of them and they both seem to train hard given what genetics they were born with, so much props.

to counter, i feel sad for dudes that work their ass off on legs for no reason, and nothing to show for it other than knee problems.
