Attorney: FBI trained NJ blogger to incite others

Associated Press Writer

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A New Jersey blogger facing charges in two states for allegedly making threats against lawmakers and judges was trained by the FBI on how to be deliberately provocative, his attorney said Tuesday.

Hal Turner worked for the FBI from 2002 to 2007 as an "agent provocateur" and was taught by the agency "what he could say that wouldn't be crossing the line," defense attorney Michael Orozco said.

"His job was basically to publish information which would cause other parties to act in a manner which would lead to their arrest," Orozco said.

Prosecutors have acknowledged that Turner was an informant who spied on radical right-wing organizations, but the defense has said Turner was not working for the FBI when he allegedly made threats against Connecticut legislators and wrote that three federal judges in Illinois deserved to die.

"But if you compare anything that he did say when he was operating, there was no difference. No difference whatsoever," Orozco said.

Special Agent Ross Rice, a spokesman for the FBI in Chicago, said he would not comment on or even confirm Turner's relationship with the FBI.

Orozco spoke to reporters after a court hearing in Hartford on Tuesday. Turner, 47, of North Bergen, N.J., did not appear, because he is in federal custody in Illinois. His arraignment on the Connecticut charges was rescheduled to Oct. 19.

In June, Turner urged his readers to "take up arms" against Connecticut lawmakers and suggested government officials should "obey the Constitution or die," because he was angry over legislation—later withdrawn—that would have given lay members of Roman Catholic churches more control over their parish's finances.

He wrote in Internet postings the same month that the Illinois federal appeals judges "deserve to be killed" because they issued a ruling that upheld ordinances in Chicago and suburban Oak Park banning handguns. He included their photos and the room numbers of their chambers at the courthouse.

Orozco officially joined Turner's defense team in the Connecticut case on Tuesday, with approval from Superior Court Judge David Gold. Orozco said his Newark, N.J.-based firm has been representing Turner for the past five years, including during his FBI informant years.

Turner's Connecticut attorney, Matthew R. Potter, said it's too early to tell which trial will move forward first. Orozco said he plans First Amendment defenses in both cases.

Randall Samborn, a spokesman for the U.S. attorney's office in Chicago, said the office would not comment on Orozco's statements.

HOLY SHIT!!!

I believe several people here have suggested the government would never do anything like this. ::)  Ignored and mocked us when we pointed out things like the FBI connections to the first WTC bombing. This is really pretty bad since he was doing it on a large scale for the FBI. :o  and where Americans lives are targeted.  Seriously, WTF...

I don't know about that really.  There's not a hell of a lot in common with the two.  The worst thing about Celente is a little doom and gloom but he also puts out some positive stuff, like how it's an opportunity for the small business and things like that. and he also puts out what needs to happen to correct things. Celente is guilty of inciting people to stock up for the worst.  I don't see the agent provocateur in him.

Also, fucking disgusting that this thread gets crickets.  either they don't know who the guy is and what he's done or they don't want to contemplate the ramifications of this because that would mean fucking with their pretty picture.  This is some seriously shocking shit when you consider everything this means.

I'd really be interested to hear Beach Bum's opinion on this since he seems to always insist our government doesn't involve itself in underhanded activity of any kind.

It's so quiet, ...I can hear the mouse peeing on a cotton ball.
Where are Billy, 333386 and the other bellicose, wing nuts?
Have they been given temporary gag orders, ...or are they home cleaning their extensive gun collections?  :D

Its horrible and I think it sucks, but this is no different than the govt does already.  Dude, I grew up around organized crime people and know the deal all too well.

I always say, law enforcement is just another street gang.  You can look through most of my posts on these things, and I have been very consistent.

Most police departments are no different than organized gangs competing for power and territory.

Here's the difference and it's a huge difference.  When you tell people that shit like this happens, they laugh at you and tell you to take a hike with your stupid conspiracy.  Then sometimes they'll put the icing on the cake by calling you anti-American for daring to accuse the government of this level of wrong doing.  The difference here is you have a blogger/radio host that's speaking to the masses, inciting violence at the behest of the FBI.  Usually an agent provacateur infiltrates a specific group and does his deed and that's bad enough.  This is a whole new level of fucked up.  Your stupid examples include specific targets under surveillance.  This here buddy is not a specific known target.  He could have incited Joe the Jackass to go kill Jews or Blacks without ever knowing Joe the Jackass.  The fact that he was doing this for the FBI, fuck man!  The fact that you can't see the dif, holy fuck...

Hugo - of course I see it, and it makes me wonder about the Murrah Building bombing and Ruby Ridge etc.

This was really screwed up and it shows how the FBI tries to manufacture crimes that otherwise might no happen.  Hugo, I am 100% in agreement with you on this.

As we get these glimpses of how they work, yea it really does make you wonder.

Remember the WTC bombing.  It came out that the FBI was right there practically guiding things along.

Now in this case they're instigating the general population.  For what reason would they seek to increase and instigate the extreme rightwing?  I can't think of a single good reason, only fucked up reasons.  Create new fun things to do and justify their jobs which was the reason for waco.  I'm sure there are other whacked possible reasons.

Now, this is a huge admition that he was doing this.  There should be an investigation.  This imo is the type of thing that should result in a house cleaning investigation and people being hauled off to prison.  and... it's not even being covered in the media?

Hugo come on bro.

Why do they do this?

Could you imagine the media and national frenzy if a guy like Billy, myself, HH6, James, went on some rampage as a result of being pumped up by radical right wing radio and the "hateful voices"????

That would usher in a whole host of new laws to undermine civil liberties, gun control, etc.

Come on, Billy, myself, James, HH^, etc fit the exact profile thatt he govt and media want to convince everyone is the greatest threat, whether its true or not.

Angry, Racist, Physically strong, White, male, gun owner, rebel, radi8cal, McVeigh type, etc.

There is nothing that strikes fear in most people than the thought of this, other than maybe black males getting together and being the same way.  .

come on what?  Just come out and say it if you're trying to lead somewhere.  Just don't forget what dates he did this for the FBI...  If you're going for an Obama connect it's not going to work for this case.  Otherwise I agree with you before you even posted this.  I guess you didn't pick that up?

Obama/Bush/Clinton - etc - they all have the same agenda - Power and Control.

This is why the voters, of both parties always need to be vigilant in protecting the Bill of Rights.   The Bill of Rights, especially the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th amendmnents, are crucial to liberty and freedom.

Even well minded people, when given the power of the presidency, senate, congress, governor, mayor, etc, need to be kept in check because as we all know the phrase:

Power corrupts absolutely . . . .   or some crap liek that.

So you think the presidents are the ones pulling all these strings where this kind of stuff happens?  I'll disagree with that.  Not saying it's never happened, it depends on the president.

They are a proxy of course - but as is being seen with these town halls and the internet - there is more info available than ever before so that hopefully people can challenge these bums.
