Vic is regressing back to the physique he won his pro card with back in 2000.  Unfortunately, there's no way his head could have been into training/dieting the way he needed to place well at the Olympia this year with all he's been through.

I still think he's going to place top 6 on sheer aesthetics, but he won't be challenging for the title this year.  He needs more time in the gym to get back to where he was in 2007.

He doesn't look even close to the Victor of 2003 and 2007, does he?  Kinda sad, really.  I still think Victor has the best genetics of anyone competing today, with the possible exception of Phil Heath.

Actually has decent delts in this pic, might be detracting slightly from chest and arms, which usually look bigger due to previously weak (relatively) delts, which look big and round here.

Vic's window of opportunity for winning it was the last couple of years, during which as usual he didn't come in the best possible shredded conditioning and/or was out due to injury.

Dennis James lookin big and cut, Heath, Wolf, Dexter, etc.  - too much in the way for Martinez, who would only have a serious shot at his all-time best, shredded and big as he's rarely been and won't be this year it looks like.

He'll probably go down as one of those guys who never quite got it right year after year.

Victor should have won in 2007.  He was in excellent condition and looked far better than Jay "Puffy Daddy" Cutler.

Dennis James?  You must be joking.  But yes, Vic will be hard pressed to keep up with the other people mentioned.

I'd say he's had a very successful career and accomplished far more than you ever have or will.

Nah, he let it be too close at the end because as usual he came in just a little smoother than truly lean. If he'd been as lean as he should've been at the olympia, he'd have won outright IMO, with no chance for it to be close enough for politics to spoil it as happened.

look terrible, obviously this past year has taken its toll, as it would with anyone.

i'm sure he'll be back to his best in time, just not in time for the olympia i'm afraid.

He has got Rich Gaspari's left arm it has to be said. With extreme conditioning/depletion often comes one sh!T arm. After all the fuss about Kai's condition being the deciding factor at the Arnol you can bet Vic's gone into overdrive to get super-sliced, which he looks to be already at 6 weeks out!

He might pull it together and look pretty good - but he's not going to win, period.

Victor said (new issue of MD) that a leg never looks the same after an injury like the one he suffered.  Sounds like he's resigning himself to a lower placing already.

All that said, Victor is one resilient MF'er.

I heard the NWO moved fixing the 2009 Mr. Olympia to the top of its agenda this year.  It is now even higher priority than destabilizing Russia

He's 3 weeks behind & smaller.

He will have to be very very aggressive with these last few weeks.

Good luck...

if he comes on smaller he is done..  he lost to kai already.. so dropping 15 pounds is not a good idea.. and trying to compete with dexter at his game but, coming in smaller to do it is silly.. welcome to 5th place
