HRT
« on: August 26, 2009, 01:10:29 PM »
i know its probably been discussed here before, but is anyone currently on HRT?
how would you go about it? does your regular physician prescribe it? or do you have to go to a special doctor?

how much does it cost (approximately, i know it depends on the dosage)

if you suffer from low test, would HRT be covered under insurance such as BCBS?

Yes, I am.  I wouldn't waste your time with a regular physician, unless you truly just want a maintainance dose.  Usually all they will prescribe - if anything - is patches, gels or infrequent low dose shots of Test Cyp.

Unless you live in the a small town, you can Google HRT and the name of your town to find a clinic.  They will send you for bloodwork.  If your test levels are below the normal range and you can get your doctor to write it up as hypogonadism, your insurance should cover it.  If it's just supplemental dosing to make you feel better you will likely have to pay out of pocket.  However, many clinics will not submit to insurance companies, so you need to ask that.  Usually it's not cheap.  $150 for a 10cc vial of Cyp.
