At what point did Nasser become inconsequential?
« on: August 29, 2009, 08:26:05 PM »
Sometime around 99? I just got done watching the Grand Prix of England.  Levrone, Wheeler and Coleman destroyed him along with other lesser competitors. I think he was around sixth. Look for Nasser starting around the 37 sec mark.

You may be right.  Even in 1999, despite finally winning the Arnold, I always felt his physique was starting to show a slight yet perceivable decline compared to prior years.   At the 2000 Olympia, I thought he looked really off the mark.  He seemed lighter, or really flat, or something.  Then it was all downhill from there, including the obvious signs of synthol abuse.

I think you are right about 1999.  Although Nasser at his best was an incredible bodybuilder - one of the best ever.  In that form he could be highly competitive in the Mr. Olympia with this year`s competition.

LOL forget Nazzer... (from yougoslavia, oh brother)...

The Big Nasty making everyone else looking like school kids is just amazing...

99 Coleman should be known as the all time peak of bodybuilding, no questions.

drug abuse slowed down nasser.

coming from nowhere in 95, nearly mr O in 97.

but he know when to give up, that's a good point.

there are some on here who would argue that he still sits high atop the sporting hierarchy, as its most dynamic, multi-faceted, and gifted athlete ::) ::) ::).....................onc e everybody stops laughing at these two people, someone will usually acknowledge the truth, which is that he was a bodybuilder who had a few good years in the late 90's who now pays his rent by bartering in shit-stained linens.............no more, no less.

IMO Nasser deserved 1 Olympia victory, 97.

Oh and it kinda looks like 99 was when he started site injectioning.

Which is a move I never understood.  His achilles heal was always his back, so rather than committing to bring his up to the level necessary, he starts shooting his delts and arms?  For all of the claims of his so called intelligence, I find such a move to be asinine.  Nasser must be a victim of muscle dysmorphia, being that he apparently could not see, as we all could, how he was turning a once great physique into a joke.

more observations...

Dexter placed 4th... almost looks the same since 99 except he has put on about 10-15 pounds of muscle.

Markus Ruhl looked the best I've ever seen him

I think around that time Nasser started changing oil at the Auto Garage splitting his time, hence the degraded performance. ;D
