What happened to Donovan Tate?? I know that he was selected 3rd by the Padres but we lost Donovan to UNC.  I believe that Donovan Tate is out of Cartersville, G.A.

I'm sure he's toiling away in the minors....thats one thing that hurts college baseball.  Football and basketball, the players make a name and then you see them in the NFL and NBA the next season.  Baseball, they disapear for 2 or 3 years with no coverage.

I worked for the Hickory Crawdads when in college....really opened my eyes to how minor league ball works....we had 3 guys who were sure things, 1 or 2 maybe's and the rest of the roster was filled out with central american players who could be had on the cheap.  They often lived 5 or 6 in a 1 bedroom apartment to save cash to send back home.  But they loved it and played their asses off everyday.

Yea MLB needs to revamp their system its outdated, why not they just do like the NFL or NBA they dont have minor leagues. I'm sure it would piss people off to do away with it but just as you say you got guys making peanuts with a dream of making the big leagues least if they knew up front they wouldnt make it they could try something else alot of the the guys end up pennieless following a pipe dream.

I think one thing that could help is some type of a long term TV deal on the MLB network to showcase minor league talent  on a REGULAR basis.  Like regional coverage of the affiliates of that areas most popular teams.  I think fans would like to follow a guy thru the minors, but don't really get the chance.

We are lucky in our state to have so many minor league teams.....and I think it's a great way to spend a day with the family and not break the bank.  TV would just add another element.  I remember the Asheville Tourists being broadcast locally when I was a kid, but the coverage was spotty at best.  Greensboro would be a great market to do it to the surrounding smaller towns.  I think a lot of people just forget about it being there.

In Greensboro there is the new stadium downtown I think it does well, more cities should take their lead and as said bring more local coverage in. Some of these towns have some shit stadiums fucked up bleachers people lose interest. Winston is getting a new one I hear.

Although TS was rotting away    it was still better than many current stadiums still in use.   Like that dump (Raiders and A's )   out in Alameda, Ca!    I was lucky to attend our last victory vs NY in 2008. So our loss to Baltimore the week after didn't hurt as much.   The night before the Giants game we (my fan travel group) got to go up into the STADIUM CLUB for food and a night party   while watching some hs game take place.  I never dreamed I'd be up in the STADIUM CLUB.   So its a sad day but THE NEW HOUSE is the bomb!!!!!
