Thanks everyone.  I come on Getbig like a drug (or food for me).  Most everyone on here seems pretty cool and I enjoy it all.  A couple of you not to sure about though.  But, Getbig has at least allowed us to have some great fun and see how others are.  There is no way ever could anyone be able to meet the kind of characters that are on Getbig in the real world.  It cracks me up sometimes out loud when I read and see some of the photos we all come up with.  You truly have to be able to laugh at yourself and be strong willed to hang on Getbig and anyone who can does deserve some credit.  Except for you Goodrum, you are just dumb as shit (pardon the pun).

By the way once I get back down to my regular weight I plan to start traveling again so I want to hook up with some of my foreign Getbig brothers.  I do plan to spend about a month or so in Europe next summer so when I get it all setup l will let my European brothern know.

I LOVED Don Ross' enthusiasm about bodybuilding when he was doing his televised Muscle Beach News Reports. He was a cool cat.  :(

Are you saying that when he tells his nephew, "Don't worry, you've got me to fall back on", he means it literally?

Yes actually I am feeling really good.  I did figure out one thing though.  I have been lifting since 1974 or so.  I usually just go in and lift and I just get results.  If I want to get stronger or leaner I just workout more and do the treadmill or whatever.  So this time which is the worst shape I have started in I started off really slow.  Well in a month I got back some strength.  Didn't touch a free weight cause I was really embarrassed the first day cause of how weak I was.  Just Hammer and the Smith machines and some of the others.  Then after a month I started doing free weights, the bread and butter of lifting (sorry about the food reference).  So i got my bench back up to doing 315 for reps easy with my feet off the ground.  I have people coming up tome to say hi and say how strong I am and whatever else.  When I first started no one said anything to me cause I was weak and fat..  So at least I am stronger and less fatter.

So yesterday I started to do close grip bench for my triceps.  When I do them I put both hands inside the smooth part of the bar.  I bring the bar down and rest it on my chest for about 10 to 15 seconds then start doing some reps.  I am not really happy with how my bench strength is progressing.  Not am I happy with my chest density.  My chest was very thick.  I used to put a pencil across my chest and measure the depth in the middle with a ruler.  I would get almost 2".  I had a pretty thick chest.  But now I really don't have much.  I can barely feel much muscled density in my chest.  And then yesterday after doing triceps and seeing how strong my triceps are I finally came to the brilliant conclusion that my bench is being done by almost only triceps and not much chest and that is why my bench is not up there in weight.  Cause I should be ding at least 405 right now.  So, I need to change my chest routine where I do exercises that hit my pecs.  So I will be starting dumbbells next week.  I love doing dumbbells and maybe that is why my chest was so much stronger before.  The only problem is the dumbbells only go up to 130's.  I was doing 200's before.  So I will need to figure it all out.  Cause my goal is to bench 500 while I am in my 50'.  I have not touched a roid since 1986 and won't so it will all be drug free and in a t-shirt.  So when that happens I will post a video.  When I get my bench back up to 405 for reps I post a video too.  Also when I can do 315 on the incline and military press easy I will post videos.  Not till then.  I can incline 315 but only for a few.  I would like to get 405 on the incline for at least a few reps and post that too.  I have these goals I set so I have something to shoot for.  I train by myself so I need to set these goals.  Plus I want to show these kids on Getbig that an old man can still be strong.

Sometimes needing to show others is very good motivation. As you get older you will lose that need and hence it will be more difficult to train regularly.

Nice point however how do we account for the Frank Zane's, Gary Strydom's, Vince Taylor's etc something still motivates them?

Not for me I think.  I have always liked the fact that most everywhere I went I stuck out and was the center of attention.  I like it and I like when people look at me for good reasons (not being fat and worthless).  That was a huge motivator to me.  I spent so much of the past several years doing nothing but staying home hanging around my pool and hardly did anything except go to the store and the movies on weekends.  So my looks didn't seem to matter much.  But, now I am out everyday in a casino at the gym and out and about seeing people so I want to look better.  Huge motivator to me.  I still have women and even the cuties that work at the front desk at the gyms I go to telling me I am very handsome just need to get back into shape.  Soo what people think about me now is how I felt years ago.  I want to look good.  So I think I will always have that attitude.
