bodybuilding and mma training...
« on: September 10, 2009, 10:34:22 PM »
can they both mix.......

lately i have been noticing in life how many used to be pip squueks (all the mma fan base) and losers have been involving themselves in mma training and fighting....Everyone thinks they are an mma fighter just because they train at the local top team house...me, i just like to be big...but i dont want to be the one who gets knocked out by a used to be douche now rocking affliction and tap out shirts who spikes their hair land a hard one on me because they have been seeing an instructor and they been paying it with their moms credit card....yea you can fight, but fighting a trained individual is different....

can i still be a legit body builder...or do I have to be a all out fighter

No, you cannot be both. Bodybuilding type training and training like an athlete are completely the opposite.

I'm not so sure it would be all that easy to toss around a 250 pound man of solid muscle.  I imagine for some of these guys that their size and strength does help.

Keep them in stand up long enough for them to gas (would take about a minute literally) and if they take you down stay out of their guard long enough for them to gas (would take about a minute). Bodybuilders worse defence is no function and no conditioning.

"Their guard" hahahaha! OK I'm sure most bb's even know what a guard is.

Most BB"s strut around running their mouths and are the first ones to call the pigs if you throw them a little smackaroo on their shit talking mouths.

Stick with bodybuilding.

Training MMA will make you lose some size.

You sound a bit confused MMA training is not for you.

Performance and aesthetics rarely mix.  Bodybuilders bodybuild, fighters fight.  Hard to do both.  BJ, 5-9 cuts to 155.  GSP 5'11 cuts to 170.  Anderson Silva 6'2, cuts to 185.  Machida, 6'1 cuts to 205.  Brock, 6'4 cuts to 265.  Hard to be 5'11, 300 lbs and be functional.

they don't mix if you're trying to excel at both.  If you're just wanting to look decently built and be able to fight, yea go for it...

Jeff Monson and Paulo Filho show that it is possible to have some degree of mass. Manhoef is probably more muscular than 98% of getbiggers too

They mix if you're using gear, otherwise all the cardio from the MMA will make it impossible to put on size, I did both for a while, cross training in muay thai, boxing and grappling along with regular lifting, if you're not taking any anabolics you'll drop down in weight/size like crazy. Also having certain muscles get too big limits your movement a lot..esp. shoulders, traps and arms.

They don't mix at all. You don't train bodybuilder style when training mma......period.

i wouldn't lose sleep over it.  tapout wearing douches only pick fights with other douches.  contrary to what we say on here, the vast majority of people still won't go out of their way to pick a fight with a musclehead, no matter how many affliction shirts they have on.
