Is Malkin Selling Phony March Numbers?

A lot of questions on this one.  Was photo trickery used?  The flags don't lie...


The "9/12 Tea Party" in DC today isn't high on any of our must-watch lists, but it is huge news in the land of the Right Wing. Run by FreedomWorks, who has paid for the whole thing, this rally is getting fluffed by CNN and positively tongue-washed by Fox.

Numbers of the participants vary from "tens of thousands" (New York Times, Washington Post) to "close to a million (ABC News).

But Michelle Malkin is claiming 2 MILLION!

And has the photo to prove it!



This is the lead photo on Malkin's site, where she claims tha the march numbered two million. It's bein widely reproduced all over the Right-Wing blogosphere.

There's a problem, though: the livecam from which this shot was taken shows a flag flying at full mast, not half-mast.

A second problem: this webcam is looking at the traffic on 14th Street. The Teabaggers gathered at Freedom Plaza and marched down Pennsylvania Avenue, not 14th St.

Where and when was this shot taken? What rally was this? Was this actually the Teabaggers March today? Or is Malkin trying to deceive her followers (it wouldn't be the first time, certainly.)

Is there any Kossack in DC who can fill us in on the details of crowd size, rally procession, and the validity of this photo?

Because if Malkin is cheating, she deserves to get a big "FAIL."

malkin = one of the original 911 truthers.  before any of the loose change kids.  She was one of the first, when the idea was VERy unpopular and unpatriotic.

Then, oddly, FOX news hires her an she turns a 180.  hmm.

The entire report was this guy's tweet.  he grew it from 1 to 1.5 to 2 million in attendance, as his tweets went by.  Really.

I'd love to see that too and compare to the inauguration since the numbers there were given a pretty accurate range.  There's a lot of video taken in the street in that picture/clip you're showing as they're marching down it and they're spaced pretty far apart.  But at the inauguration, it was packed.  I'm guessing around 60,000 in that crowd.

What I'm mainly addressing is that some are saying the photo wasn't even the protest but I just posted a  video from msnbc showing that it was, so now I'm more confused than anything.

Can you correct me cause in this diagram it suggests 240,000 can be sqeezed in the ticket section but the crowd of people in the video stretches all the way back. Is this diagram from another area? Couldnt you sqeeze all these people on the street into the ticket area?

If the protest started at Freedom Plaza (F) and stretched out all the way to the Capitol all those people could possibly fill the 240,000 ticket area that's in the diagram. I think it's fair to say, it's not a million, but it's not as low as some are saying either.

Both the event organizer and 333386 claimed ABC as the source.

ABC vehemently denies it, and neither the event organizer or 33 can provide any proof ABC ever wrote it.  In this age of website cache, it should be a BREEZE to prove it was on ABC's website.  They haven't done that - yet.

That is because they can't.  The only claimed ABC stated it in order to lend it a temporary air of credibility.  Something that would not have happened if they claimed it was from FAUX Noise.

Lets agree the real number is probably between 250k and 1 million.

In my opinion judging from the msnbc video and the  length of road they took up I'd say the number is even under 200,000. It's close but probably just a little under that. There is no way in hell it hit 1 million people as much as I'd like to believe it did. 60,000 is ridiculously low and is just a desperate attempt to discredit a respectable turnout..
