How the hell did Gustavo Badell claim 3rd spot in successive Olympias?

Beats me. They must have been wanting for competition back in 04/05.

Was good enough those years, didn't have THE WOLF, Heath, Kai to deal with. Def. beat Dexter in 04 despite Dex's whining and not competiting in the 05 Olympia, he just beat him on size.

Don't think Gustavo is that great but he has some serious size and at that time was only really outdone by Jay and Ron for proportions and size.

True.

The result back then flatters Gustavo because even his physique back then would not be able to compete with the likes of Wolf, Heath, Kai etc now. Still a legit top ten contender though.

I think a prime Gustavo beats Wolf. Gustavo in the 04 Olympia was neck and neck with Dexter Jackson, and in 05 he was even better.

Gustavo's 3rd place finishes were well deserved.  Him beating Ronnie in the 05 challenge round was the right call, he looked better in the compulsories than Ronnie.

Have you actually seen those contests? He placed 3rd because he was in good enough a shape to deserve it back then.

Although I don’t like his shouts while hitting poses but at his best he had a great physique.. imo at his best he was better than cutler!!.. he didn’t have weak parts..

Two guys are camping in the woods.  They wake up to find a fierce grizzly bear roaring at them.  The bear is clearly about to attack, eyeing them both and deciding which one to maul first.  Both men realize what is about to happen.  One guy slowly begins to put on his gym shoes.

Gustavo didn’t have to beat the theoretical competition; he only had to beat the guys who showed up onstage… and he did that, save for the two ahead of him.

GUS,made huge improvements those 2 yrs at the ironman he looked sick,esp from side shots.
