Ah! The other thing with premium headphones is that they are designed for a flatter response. You'll probably be a bit underwhelmed once you hear the music 'properly'. If you want the boombap, I'd stick with something with neodymium magnets and in-ear buds/canalphones like the Sony MDR-E series. I really liked them, but they had a weird quality issue with the rubber decomposing. Hopefully, it's fixed now. JVC Marshmallows and Skullcandy are cool too, but I definitely liked the feel and sound of the Sony.

Thanks. I listen to a lot of trance and it's very annoying to use a portable device and lose all the bass and depth of the music. All  you are really hearing is thump thump thump and a some synthesizer rifs. I want an audio-phile status mp3 headphone setup that i can use at the gym or also to travel or sit for hours playing poker etc. Maybe a diff set of headphones for the gym...
Almost always, yes.

I'm considering to buy this Skullcandy headphone since it's wireless and for over the ears.

sansa clip. Mp3 , datakey, radio, microphone, 3 colors higlhy readable OSD, very small, has a very useful clip. Serious brand (sandisk): above average memory and battery quality.

Cheap, reliable (survived being "protected" in a barely closed pocket thru a washing machine and dryer cycle, and got in contact with babells and plates  ;D)

prices, testimonies, more pics:

Check out the Clip Plus! It has a mini-SD slot for more storage. They're at amazon or newegg.

I have this one, picked it up at Walmart, 8GB for $50.  Couldn't be any easier to use.

I enjoy my 1st generation 30g Zune.  Sounds great and the software updates keep it fresh with everything.  Including apps if you are into that.

120 gig iPod. I have so much music, I wish that there was 500-1000 gig one, but on the hand, deminishing returns. But I have those headphones that came with it, and I really, really want to upgrade.

Yep, bought a relatively expensive Denon hi-fi system a couple of years ago, only for the cd player to go tits a couple of months after the warranty expired.

Took it back to the retailer and they told me that Denon, Sony and Teac all suffer from the same problem - as they use the same component - and there was fuck all they could do about it.

Definitely think twice about shelling out cash on expensive technology now.

Great little player. I needed to replace a little 2Gb no frills player at Christmas time when a shaker burst open in my bag and ruined it.

I got the 8Gb Sansa clip for i think £40($60 dollars maybe?) and it's perfect.

Keep you ipods, i'll take that anytime.

Creative players are alright, i had a little solid state one that did me fine (although at 64Mb it only does me as a memory stick now). My mother had a hard drive based one that she'd get problems with every now and then and have to format it but it mostly works okay. I think my bro bought a similar model which fucked up so he sent it back and got himself an ipod.
