ObamaCare might just pass...
« on: September 17, 2009, 12:13:46 PM »
While Repubs and FOX anchors are patting themslves on the back for defeating healthcare weeks ago and eliciting all this dirt on ACORN...

you may want to look at the press release put out around 3 pm.  Right about the time Obama was campaigning in youngstown, having the crowd boo the Max Baucus plan, while he's praising the public option, 3 or 4 prominent Repubs came out in support of this bill.  Snowe, Lieberman, and 2 others.  MSNBC's Chuck Todd just announced it.

But hey, let's all scream about ACORN all day.  A few arrests in a company of 400k is way more relevant than the healthcare future of 310 million people, right?  ;)

Obama does not have a bill.   That was another lie he told.

He is operating off of HR 3200 which is DOA in the Senate.

The news websites don't have whatever the 3 pm release was, but it was Joe lieberman ushering in 3 repubs behind obma, which was so newsworthy.  Remember lieberman twisted repub arms on this stim bill to get the votes obama needed.

And it's never good for repubs when obama is shouting, getting crowds in a frenzy in a swing state, and he's speaking on public option.  When he speaks to crowds of young kids, he's been known to get his way...

And voila... As I'm on both the Obama and McCain email lists, I receive an email from obama talking about the health care bill this hour also.

he's sat back quietly while republicans celebrated their win for a month.  Suddenly, he's on his feet, republicans are backing the tenets of this bill, he's mobilizing his base via internet, and he's passionate for the first time in months.

Repubs' response?  Baghdad Bob-style parroting from Bohenner.  And when HE is the one doing the speaking (as the auto-pilot comdemner of anything Obama says) you know they're in trouble.

I think this battle is about to shift guys.

Yeah, since his big speech support for health care has dropped!!!The magic is gone from this goof. His black preacher yelling has become so irritating that everytime the public sees it he looses support for the bill.

FIRED UP?READY TO GO? What a dick.

I am not passing judgment on the obamacare bill in this thread.  We have 10,000 threads on that.

And I'm not here ot be called a lemming, cause I'm not campaigning for the bill either.

My point is that after a month of sitting on his keyster letting the repubs high-five and moving the focus of conversation to Acorn, we suddenly have obama "turning it on" and pushing public option, and the pieces are beginning to fall his way.

Four republicans come fwd supporting it, and he goes vocal on public option very passionately the same day his internet team comes alive on the issue.  I'd say this is 3 black eyes for repubs at once.

Show me a credible source for your claim that 4 GOP senators are on board for the public option.

chuck todd of msn said it at about 3:02 PM et.  said it was just breaking.  Nothing on cnn.com about a small memo yet.  When it comes out, it comes out.  Go ahead and accuse me of making it up, like so many others do.

Sheesh, do ya think I would just make that up 33?  I watch the news all day and parrot what is said, when it's said.

And if you think Chuck todd at msnbc would break into coverage to announce the memo, and just plain 'make it up', go ahead and accuse that now, so you'll look ever dumber when the link is up.

Jeez, people.

I admitted to those things not panning out, you never did.

Either way - Obama has now repeated the following twice, as late as today in that speech you referenced to young people.  Can you please tell me what this means to you?  I have my own idea, but i want to hear what you think.

Change the subject.  Go ahead.  I wanted you on record, calling me a liar for posting what Chuck Todd said.  So in 3 hours when it's part of a new story, I can shove in your face, and we can have the 'owned conversation', etc.

Going beyond that, if you want to derail the thread, and talk about content of a speech, go for it.  The point of this thread is that obama is coming out of the gate swinging on heathcare and your response is to talk shit about me.  super.  You diss me and acorn.  Obama's riling up lots of swing voters.

This is the clip - and obama mentioned in the speech you referenced.  What does this mean?

I am asking because he has used this wierd term twice already.

240 - that statement is the second time he has said that nonsense and is very disturbing IMHO.

What does HR 3200 have to do with "transforming America and changing the world" ? ? ?

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/32899754#32899754

All they say is now commends the work on the bill, and there are no other GOP Senators on this.

The liberals already said no on this and the 99% of the GOP is not for this.  BaucusCare is going nowhere.

Additionally, with no public option - Pelosi wont go for it.

Ur kidding right...barry has failed.....NO FREE HAND OUT FOR U.

WASHINGTON - No sooner than the Senate Finance Committee's chairman released his long-awaited health care bill today than Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said it's not good enough for Nevada.

Reid is concerned about the cash-poor state's inability to boost Medicaid spending as would be required under the bill.

“While this draft bill is a good starting point, it needs improvement before it will work for Nevada," Reid said in a statement. "During this time of economic crisis, our state cannot afford to shoulder the second highest increase in Medicaid funding."

Reid said he received assurance from the chairman, Sen. Max Baucus of Montana, that the formula would be changed before the bill goes to committee next week.

"I spoke to the Chair of the Finance Committee and he assured me that this bill will be improved for Nevada," Reid said.

"Let me be very clear, I will not bring a health insurance reform bill to the Senate floor that is not good for Nevada.”

One way the legislation plans to cover more uninsured is to make Medicaid available to more people. Right now Medicaid in Nevada covers limited low-income groups -- primarily pregnant women, children and seniors. The bill would expand care to include childless adults. But that would require a 5 percent increase in funding from the state.

Reid's concerns come after a back-and-forth he and Nevada's governor engaged in Tuesday via letters exchanged on the issue.

The majority leader's objection show just how difficult the task before Congress in trying to meet the needs of all lawmakers who have problems with the legislation.
