Mike Pence Declares Washington a "No Czar Zone"
« on: September 19, 2009, 01:17:17 PM »
I assume that after declaring DC a "No Czar Zone" he immediately left the stage and kicked out fellow speaker Bill Bennett (aka George Bush's Drug Czar).

This supposedly intelligent politician does realize "czar" is a media coined term, doesn't he?  :-\ Maybe he thinks we have descendants of the Romanovs scattered throughout the government?
What a phony clown.

Bush has just as many as Obama.  Great point.  I think many people condemning the czars not weren't so val until 2009.

Lamar Alexander has been beating the drum about czars and I saw a clip of him from a few years ago saying Bush should appoint a manufacturing czar

ALEXANDER: According to news accounts, there are 32 or 34 so-called czars in the Obama White House. Respected voices in the Senate—Senator Byrd and Senator Hutchison, a senior Democrat and a senior Republican—have pointed out that these czars are an affront to the Constitution. They’re anti-democratic. They are a poor example of a new era of transparency which was promised to this country. They are a poor way to manage the government and they seem to me to be the principal symptom of this administrations eight-month record of too many Washington takeovers.

Maybe he's got early stage Alzheimers and has forgotten that he was in favor of the so called "czars" a few years ago when his party had the White House.   I wonder why he thinks they are "anti-democratic" now that Obama is in office?

Alexander Supported Bush’s Appointment of a Manufacturing Czar. Nearly six years ago Alexander spoke on the floor of the Senate in support of President Bush’s appointment of a manufacturing jobs czar: “[President Bush] talked about appointing a sort of manufacturing job czar in the Commerce Department, which I would welcome.” [9/2/03]

Alexander Supported Bush’s Appointment of an AIDS Czar. Alexander spoke in support of the appointment of Bush-nominated AIDS czar Randall Tobias: “Within a few weeks the Congress will be considering the nomination of Randall Tobias to be the new AIDS czar…who is not yet confirmed by the Senate. I hope he will be.” [9/3/03]

I don't believe I was posting here when Bush was POTUS, this czar crap has got to go no matter who is POTUS. There is no good reason for the POTUS to appoint people without congressional oversite. If you haven't figured it our yet I am an independent conservative, I think all politicians are equally worthless.

many of the so called czars actually had confirmation hearings.

I've never liked the czar moniker but I can't take any Repub objections seriously.

If they had a problem with them why are we only hearing about it now

same old story.

When Repubs are doing it they have no objections and in fact support it.

When Dems do it then it's anti-democratic and anti-constitutional
