Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva in talks with the UFC
« on: September 23, 2009, 08:53:00 AM »
Brazilian heavyweight Antonio ‘Big Foot’ Silva (12-1) says he has received an offer of a contract from the UFC.

“I have a proposal from UFC but I have got to fight on Sep 23rd and there will be another fight left to accomplish my contract with Sengoku,” he told Brasil Combate. “Since the UFC wants exclusivity from the fighters I first need to finish up with Sengoku and after that I will study and see what is the best proposal over the table.”

He last fought in the US when he won the EliteXC heavyweight title with a TKO victory over Justin Eilers before testing positive for Boldenone. He got a one-year ban from the California State Athletic Comission, which expired on July 26th this year. That means he can be picked up by any US organisation.

Brasil Combate is reports that Antonio Silva’s agents Alex Davis and Dan Lambert have been in talks with the Ultimate Fighting Championship to match him against the likes of Shane Carwin, Cain Velasquez and Brock Lesnar.

Talks may progress further in late September/early October once Silva’s commitments to Sengoku are exhausted.

If he does sign with the UFC, he would definately make the HW division even more interesting.  He would be the third ATT HW prospect active in the UFC (Todd Dufee,Gonzaga,).  He may not be the best, but he's up there.
