240 believes Obama can do anything he wants because Dear Leader is going "hook up" poor people.  Transparency, fiscal soundness, constituionality, sanity, be damned.

240, this is a national debate that must be publicized.  I didn't like the patriot act either, but this clearly needs to be out in the open.  Americans have been along for the whole process so far.

I don't see a reason nor purpose to post it on the internet.  You vote for these guys and gals to read it and vote accordingly, not for the public to read it.  It has not yet been enacted so until then there is no reason as to why it should be posted for the public.  This was also my stance during the Bush admin.  I didn't always agree with the legislation passed but i used my democratic right to vote in someone who i thought would act in my best interests.  As should you all.  So instead of getting you panties in a bunch relax.

First of all, as we have found out most of them don't read the bills before they vote for them.
So you don't think the public should be allowed to read a bill that is going to directly affect how medical care is administered in the country? How exactly is the representative supposed to represent the interests of his constituants if they have no idea what is going on in DC?

Was it done for the Patriot Act? To this type of an extent? Becuase even if it was, it was done in the wake of 9/11, when we thought that possibly several other terrorist attacks could be imminent. In this situation, there is no national emergency that this bill is trying to address. ANd the bill wont even start to try to address it until 2012!!!!

I was under the impression that the patriot bill was never discussed on the floor (convenient anthrax mailed to the building where discussion was to take place) and they had to rush vote it because bush said so.

If obama was standing on tv saying millions would die of swine flu if congress didn't pass his plan immediately, it would be BS.

When bush said we have to pass patriot act immediately or be attacked, it was the same thing.
