If you were to win two different Lotteries
« on: October 01, 2009, 09:09:01 PM »
Within a 5 year period both being over a million dollars each...(odds approx. 1 and 4,000,000 to 1 on each lotto)

Is something else going on other then dumb luck? Cheating aside of course...

They say one can't predict random, but is it possible?

It has been done...At least that's what they said on one of those TLC shows. I want to say it was "The Lottery Curse," but I'm not 100% sure.

In the last 10 years, I have lived in two cities where someone played and won both the Fantasy 5 and Lotto (6 numbers--not super Lotto or Powerball) game on the same day!

For PowerBall, yes, but when I was in college I developed a system that regularly won 3 out of 5, 4 out of 5, and even 5 out of 5 numbers on the 5/5 games. :D

when I was 15 years old, I was working at the grocerie store and a woman that worked with me there always bought a lotto ticket every week.

then one week I said: Damn it will you stop buying those shits, you'll never win anyway !!!

the next morning she called my mom at 6 in the morning (she was her boss) to tell her she wouldn't work anymore because she had won 24 millions  ;D

Then why are you not using this regularly? Or are you?

I've won a total of $105,606,480,090 in over 700 lotteries in the last few years and have donated it to afgans worldwide to fight the taliban.

I developed the ‘system’ on a dare to prove that it could be done.  It works, but it is very time consuming and requires daily play of at least $20 ($40-$60 would be ideal).  The last time I ‘won’ I decided to count my blessings and quit.  By the way, if you win 5/5 you don’t automatically get the whole prize; it has to be shared/split with anyone else who won 5/5 that day which happens more often than you may think.  I was never the sole winner on any day that I won.  >:(

I tried the same system for 6 out of 6 (lotto) games, but that generated too many possible number combinations to be effective.  :(

What's the System, Bay?

I've played for years but have only managed to win enough to pay for my next week's ticket. And that only happened a couple of times.

A few years back a family friend won $13,000,000 one year and close to $27,000,000 the next year.

And he claims that it didn't change his lifestyle one bit, but I don't know this guy well enough to confirm or deny any lifestyle change.

Still lives in the same old house though.

The odds for both Mega and Powerball lotteries are 1 in 200,000,000.

 - It's more likely you will die within the next 30 seconds than hit the Mega or Powerball lottery.

 - It's MUCH more likely that you will die in a car crash driving to the store to buy your lottery ticket than hit the Mega or Powerball lottery.

Keep paying that "poor tax".

In the late 80's in Ireland the lotto began.

The first winner was a lady who picked the numbers to do with Our Lady and feast days of Our Lady.

Florida's first Powerball winner, hits for $189 million Saturday night

Hey, was anyone up in Orlando yesterday, and did you stop and buy a Powerball ticket?

If you stopped at Sandlake Chevron, you might be jumping up and down right now. (Click on the map and figure out what theme park is closest, help me out on that one, folks?)

The Florida Lottery announced that one player matched all five numbers and the Powerball in Saturday's drawing; hitting for about $189 million. It's the first Florida Powerball jackpot hit since the game came to the state in January.

The winning numbers were: 12 - 24 - 48 - 50 - 57 and the Powerball was 22.

The winning ticket was sold at Sandlake Chevron Food Mart, 7331 W. Sandlake Road, Orlando.

Powerball is the mega-jackpot lotto game that is played in 30 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The game is administered by the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL). The game’s starting jackpot is $20 million, and increases with each rollover if no one matches all five numbers plus the Powerball.

Powerball has hit eight previous times this year, and the $189 million is the third-highest jackpot of the year. There was a $259 million hit Aug. 19 in South Carolina and a $232 million in South Dakota on May 27.

The Lottery had expected it to be about $193 million and used that estimated figure, but the actual sales now put it at $189 million (either way I'll take it). In some ways, it's fitting for Orlando to be the site of the state's first winner: As part of the agreement to join Powerball, the MUSL agreed to have the televised drawings emanate from Orlando this year.

But on the other hand, wouldn't it stink if the winner weren't from Florida? Or worse yet, some tourist from another country?

Or does it not matter to you? Just curious.
