Funny how majority of people that are not into bodybuilding (my dad and friends included) would see movie like like pumping iron and that would motivate them to workout or take up bodybuilding but when they see someone like kai or kamali pose automatically they are turned off and make funny comments.
There is a different between classical posing (like Shawn ray, Kevin levroni, Arnold) and posing aimed towards gay crowd (kai, kamali and so on).

Difference between you and I is when i watch Arnold & Shawn ray pose i get motivated to hit the gym harder and eat more often. When you watch kai pose the only thing that goes thru ur mind is to what pose of his you going to bust your nut to.

Bill was asked to cover the shoots I did for MD Monday following the Olympia. It included features of Victor Martinez (MD January 2010), Kevin English (outtake also in MD #1/2010), Kevin & Kai (no set date), Kai & Oscar (Parts of it in #1/2010) and Kai by himself (#1/2010). Nobody expected Bill to create a master piece based solely on the shoot and photage of Kai & Kevin themself. My older brother was recently nominated for an Emmy a short time ago for his documentary "Birth Of A Surgeon", so I do have a grasp of the editing process of a video or movie. But that doesn´t explain why he had to use the questionable clips he did as filler material. If you don´t have enough footage you just wait until you have or you don´t do it at all. To me it seems selfish as he has not shown any signs of regards to the integrity of the people involved. Who´s interest does he represent? How do you think Kai and Kevin feels about this? Especially Kevin who just won his first Olympia and just signed up with MD? That´s some welcome in his first video as an official MD athlete?!! The key word is integrity and respect of the people you shoot. If you´re planning to throw punches under the belt or be controversial to make headlines, you have to make this known up front with the people involved and the company you represent.

The Soldier Boy video is in my opinion a result of poor editing. By taking things out of context, such as the very moment when Kevin is picking up Kai, or in transitions between moves, you can easily make this look like something completely different from what really took place. Which this video clearly displays with it´s gay undertones. Personally I´m having a hard time to see the comical and fun point in this production and I think a lot of bodybuilding fans share this view based on the reactions of this video on this and other forums.

We are already struggling to survive and make our movement more respected by the general public and the way you choose to point your camera and what you decide to display makes all the difference. As a videographer you can inspire teenagers and iron warriors to hit the gym in a fashion George Buttler once did with Pumping Iron, as well as turn into something negative. The choice is yours. But why not try to create a master piece next time!?
