beats me. something about peace, love, happiness.
Those aren't goals, but aspirations. I think most people would put those on their list of things to aspire to.
A goal has to be achievable.
For example, Obama has a short term goal of closing Gitmo, getting out of Iraq and winning in Afghanistan. What is the long term goal.
It can't be to make America safer, because, having 160,000 troops surrounding your greatest threat makes you more safe. Taking them away makes you vulnerable.
How about nuclear deterrence and the missile shield, he wants to scrap both.
Again he says it is to make America safer, but how is that possible. Every nation knows that America can blow them to kingdom come, this ensures that China and Russia aren't aggressive and missile shields would help to protect vulnerable friendly states like Poland from Rogue states like Iran. But that isn't important to him. instead he withdraws the shields from the vulnerable states and proposes to reduce the amount of nuclear weapons. No Russia is building nuclear warheads for Iran.
He is a Carter or Chamberlain light. Both got caught up in Appeasement and both paid dearly for it and the rest of the world is still being held hostage from their decisions on both Germany and Iran.
The huge problems in the Middle East can be directly traced to decisions they made. Now Obama is going down the same path.
How about health care or climate change? He wants a plan on both, but what is his goal, protecting the environment or providing health care to all Americans? It can't be because he hasn't even put his own bill forward and he isn't backing any bill right now that would either ensure a large amount of reduction in green house gases or 100% coverage because he needs votes in some key states that would oppose those measures.
Strong leaders make unpopular decisions in the face of great opposition to meet their goals. Weak ones fallow the masses and make popular decision in easy times and forget their goals.
How many short term goals has he met?
Running the most powerful nation in the world isn't a popularity contest, even though Obama seems to think it is.
Who cares what the UN thinks as long as America and its Allies are better off with each decision he makes. He doesn't seem to understand this. Because he still looking to be the most popular guy in school.
