That show, I don't know it's name...where they take a house, renovate it, and give it to a needy family.

Well, a family in Bridgeport, CT, got that deal. They were really impoverished. Dirt poor.

They got a beauty of a house from the show.

What did they do?

Did they live happily ever after in it and become productive members of society?

No.

They took a mortgage out for all the equity on a paid-for house, blew the money, and are now out on the street again.

Some people shouldn't be allowed houses to live in - they're not socially developed enough - they should live in zoos to begin with and once they can learn to stop throwing faeces at each other than they shold be allowed to graduate up to basic accomodation and earn their passage through life.

Its similar over here,both black nigerians and white trash irish scum do the same thing
Basically over here if a slut gets pregnant she is entitled to a new house and 12,000euro moving in expenses and nigeros get the same,note: neither of these two people ever work so dont contribute anything back,so here we have a society of people who get everything for free because of our goody goody government and obviously these vbermin then have no appreciation for anything

I've got the perfect solution - pack them all off to Afghanistan to earn their keep.

We are losing good men and women out there hand over fist at the moment whilst back home in the UK we are overpopulated with scumbags who contribute nothing to society.

I don't believe that it is a social safety net that most people are offended by but the fact that many individuals choose to abuse it that is most offensive. I don't mind helping the needy but there has to be some kind of exchange. During my undergrad years, I have a degree in History and Political Science, I would get into huge debates with people who wanted the government to take care of people. At the same time, they could not fathom the idea that these same individuals who were receiving so much from the government, also had some responsibility of their own to the state, such as, don't have children you can't afford.

In Europe it is even worse, not necessarily because of their welfare system, but because they are getting an influx of people who do not share their same democratic values. They have even less value for the social contract and are simply milking the system.

The concept of helping people when they are down is a great thought. But the reality of giving someone something for nothing is that most people will not appreciate the gift they are given and wind up in the same situation as they were before.
