You still haven't explained how he supposedly manipulated the prices of the stock when it has done nothing but gone up for the last decade, and was rising before he even started attacking it. All you've done is whined.

[edit] Currency speculation

On Black Wednesday (September 16, 1992), Soros's fund sold short more than $10 billion worth of pounds sterling, profiting from the Bank of England's reluctance to either raise its interest rates to levels comparable to those of other European Exchange Rate Mechanism countries or to float its currency.

Finally, the Bank of England withdrew the currency from the European Exchange Rate Mechanism, devaluing the pound sterling, and Soros earned an estimated US$ 1.1 billion in the process. He was dubbed "the man who broke the Bank of England."

The Times of Monday, October 26, 1992, quoted Soros as saying: "Our total position by Black Wednesday had to be worth almost $10 billion. We planned to sell more than that. In fact, when Norman Lamont said just before the devaluation that he would borrow nearly $15 billion to defend sterling, we were amused because that was about how much we wanted to sell."

Stanley Druckenmiller, who traded under Soros, originally saw the weakness in the pound. "Soros' contribution was pushing him to take a gigantic position."[17][18]

In 1997, during the Asian financial crisis, then Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir bin Mohamad accused Soros of using the wealth under his control to punish ASEAN for welcoming Myanmar as a member. Soros has denied bin Mohamad's accusations.

What's your point? Speculative attacks are possible because of the way the markets work. If Soros didn't do it, someone else would have saw it eventually and done the same thing. As far as I know, there is nothing illegal about what he did. He had the money to short the pound and he did just that. And it wasn't even him who discovered that the pound was weak. All he did was encourage his trader to take the position they did.

Just because it is not techincally illegal does not make it morally right.  Soros is a vulture, period.

As far as I know, Limbaugh has no criminal record.  So to the point of the thread, why should soros be able to be part fo the NFL, and not Rush?

Morals? Get off your high horse. It's amusing that you're talking about morals when Rush has zero and is a complete scumbag. If Soros didn't do it, someone else would have found the same information and done the same exact thing.

Since when have morals come into play when making money?

I love how you guys trash health insurance companies, oil companies, halliburton, etc and now are doing all sorts of mental gymnastics to defend anything and everything soros has done.  Hysterical.

No wonder you guys dont say shit about GS either.

fuck your morals

I thought you were an attorney/debt collector

what does limbaugh even have to do with it

Soros did nothing illegal or immoral in the Bank of England trade.  If you want to make that argument there are better incidents.

I couldn't care less about what he has done. He had the money to do it and chose to. That's how these markets work. It's pretty simple. If he didn't do it, someone else would have come and along and did it. Blame it on England for refusing to change their interest rates despite the massive speculative attacks on their currency. Fixed currencies are open to speculative attack. This is common knowledge. That's what they get for being thick headed.

From what I gather, Soros gives a lot of money to charities and has done a lot of philanthropic work in his life. Can't say Rush has done the same.

I don't think I've made any posts on here about them. Watching you idiots bicker back and forth about them is enough for me.

Fine, I misstated my point.  Ill grant you that.

Again, knowing what we now know about soros and rush, why is it that the NFL has no problem with soros but a problem with rush?

Probably because Rush is a public figure. Most people wouldn't be able to tell you who Soros is.

I have yet to see proof of this. Your articles and videos haven't proven shit.

His own groups were publicly attacking Halliburton and attacking the war in ads, writings etc, while he was personally buying their stock.

You dont see a problem with that while members of the groups were genuinenly against the war and probably had or knew people who lost friends and family in Iraq?

Do you think you, or any of the other followers of the antiwar movement would have joined or kept membership if they found out that the founder was secretly buying halliburton stock when it was partially beaten down by their attacks on the company and failures of the war?

Again, his attacks on the company didn't seem to do anything as the stock had been climbing from the beginning of 2002. He didn't start attacking them until 2003 (as evidenced by the article you posted) and the stock continued to rise until 2008. People are entitled to their opinions. Doesn't mean they can't make money as well. He saw a good investment and took it. Looks like it paid off because he seems to have made a lot of money on it AND was able to voice his anti-war stance.

I think Rush should be allowed to buy into the Rams (they blow anyway) but he's as big of a scumbag as they come.
