No one making under 1 million/year should pay more than 25% taxes IMO.  We must force the gov to spend less.  Even if you make $100,000 per year, with total taxation (all taxes), you're probably giving close to 40% to the local, city and state governments.  How the hell is that acceptible?!

People need incentives, not empty promises of free stuff from others.

I have korean neighbors and a few korean grocers near me.  Those people are the salt of the earth.  They bust their ass, are pleasant, are nice, are good business people, and never complain.

I watched a good film this weekend, called the great debaters.  Had Denzel Washington and Forrest Whitaker.  Great movie about the struggles of black academics in the 1930s.  The lessons of those people were that they could force change and rise up through hard work, respect, education, (and organized non-violent civil disobedience).  It's almost as if all the hard work that these black pioneers have worked for are being pissed on by dysfunctional minority habits these days.  Entitlements, Affirmative action, quotas, special benefits...that's not what these people wanted, they wanted the opportunity for equality to prove they were just as good (or better) than others.  Damn these liberals, their methods don't work in changing people's ethics and habits.

Its all about votes.  Why would anyone vote for Democrats if they did not them for social welfare programs? 

Granted there are a few guilty whites who vote Dem regardless, but at least you would not have a 95% voting bloc every single time.

They dont have to because they spend their formative years in school, busting their ass, and being disciplined to study, etc.  This is regardless of wealth.  Its a cultural thing.

That is why people are upset. If they had jobs and at least the chance of making it they would not complain. The REAL unemployment rate is now 20% in USA. That is 1 out of 5 people out of a job or not full time employed!

My advice to everyone is to find something you love to do and go in your own business and set your own rules. 

Its true freedom.  Granted you have stress and angst, but its far better than working foer someone else.

Well they're too busy working hard at their jobs, in school and elsewhere. Further people don't tend to make fun of people who work very hard, keep their mouths shut and do their job. Maybe American's aren't racist, they just don't like lazy people stealing their tax dollars. This is a great friggen thread.

I graduated in South Africa in 1990. High School was free for us back then. Not sure if that is the case now.

By rich I don't mean most small business owners. We are talking about the top 1%. The top 1% have 95% of the wealth. The top 1% are people with an AGI (adjusted gross income) of roughly $500,000 or greater. Are you in the top 1%? People with that kind of wealth can generate more wealth via the stock market real estate (if they buy smart), financing etc.

Also note that not everyone can be their own boss. So why can an employee not bust their ass and also make a good living at the same time? It sounds to me like you are saying the only guy that should make a good living when he busts his ass is the boss. What about the employee??

In the early part of the 20th century there was a middle class in America. And America was a better place. Now 95% of the wealth is in the hands of 1% of the population. Do you see a problem with that or not? It is fine if you want to strive to be part of the 1%. Nobody is holding you back. But at the end of your life, do you want to say you were part of the top 1% or that you were part of a movement to bring wealth and prosperity to a greater percentage of the population?

I am not advocating getting rid of the wealthy. We need a strong middle class again. And no, that does not mean they all own their own company.
