All jokes aside, the USA is now just a whole mishmash of interconnected self-interests that are now actively cannibalizing the very system they are supposed to safeguard. The more you read about this country of mine, from the very beginning, the more I realise it's always been a fight between the ones who have a lot vs. the ones who want some of that lot. It's happened many times throughout history and will continue to happen, here and in whereverland, even if there is a a revolution, more regulation or 15 more Obamas.

I think there was some sort of "equilibrium" around the turn of the century, when all these great technological advancements were talking place and the economy was really strong, competition was encouraged and were social strides were taking place. Then WWII happened: Millions of males were shipped overseas and put through "patriot"-making factories, while Big Business took the opportunity to rewrite the laws to their advantage. Don't get me wrong, they did let go of some of the riches, aka the Middle America era, but that was only temporary. They sure came back when Reagan won. 

So... my suggestion is: Let's just sit back and enjoy "the show". We're not only watching history, we're part of it. We're the fucking morons who read The Little Engine that Could way too many times.

I just read a book about Bush's era and... aside from getting overwhelmed by the feeling that all these writers seem to, inadvertently or on purpose, miss the point and go the partisan route, there were MANY red flags on the book that the author just missed big time while he was hellbent in making Bush seem like an incometent idiot (which he is, do not get me wrong).

One of the stories was the birth and development of the auto industry and how corruption has turned it into a worthless crap of metal, all because they decided to leave competition and technological advancement aside and decided marry interests with the I-don't-give-a-shit-what-you-put-in-it-as-long-as-it-runs-on-gasoline crowd (the oil industry).

This is just an example, but it is quite revelating of what is killing my country. If you put the car and technological advancements in a timeline... we shouldn't be driving Acuras or Rabbits (which are all foreign by the way), we should be driving land-air hybrids powered by the shit that noone wants.

And this is just an example, which you can pretty much extrapolate to any American business aside from the computer (which Microsoft is now actively working to turn it into another hopeless shithole).

Its obvious most, if not all politicians have no regard for the average person.  Bush spent like a drunk sailor, Obama is doing the same.  States are no different fiscally.  What can be done about this?  It seems as if almost every candidate is disconnected with the average Americans reality.  How do we fix this?

that's the idea but unless you haven't noticed, it doesn't actually work out that way except on some issues.  especially with dems, they cave like little pussies on anything major pushed by the republicans. I use to think it was just them being pussies but I think it's the general plan now... One way or another they get things passed we don't want while they masquerade as being opposing forces.  You want to slow them up even more, toss a legit third party guy in the whitehouse.
