Well....Now that Welker is not playing, I'd say the Ravens' chance of pulling the upset gets a little better. Edleman doesn't replace 120+ catches. The last time these two teams played the Ravens played undisciplined with too many penalties. Ray Rice had a 100 yard game on like, 12 carries. Rice is the key. If he plays well, the Ravens will play well. But beating NE on the road will be very tough, no doubt.

The Ravens starting DB's are crap with Carr and Foxworth. But hopefully Ed Reed can make a difference. But he's been playing hurt all season.

The Ravens are 0-5 all-time against the Patriots. But the last two games could have gone the Ravens way. They have to break the jinx sometime so it might as well be now. I'll say the Ravens catch some breaks during the game and pull the upset. Ravens 24, Patriots 21.

Edlemen went for over 100 yards today in the slot vs a better team than the Ravens, and he's about 20 lb's heavier and 2-3 inches taller than Welker.  He's not as good as Welker (who is) but he's about 70 percent of him. He will give you problems, but NE is really banged up, so you might pull it off. Keep in mind Edlemen was a QB in college and he's a rookie.  He's going to be a very good player.  I'd say his understanding of coverage is why he is so advanced at this point.

Yes, they do...Wilfork, Warren and Bodden were out today.  The pats d is very young right now.  Check the stats...they aren't great, but they are far better than you are making it seem.

Chung is not even close to their best defensive player right now.  Mayo was just DFROTY and then he got hurt...Meriweather is a top saftey in the NFL, Bodden has great numbers, Banta Cain has ten sacks - etc, etc.  The team has a shitload of rookies with a lot of upside.  They need another pass rusher, because without that nothing works.

Look at Brandon Graham!! I would love to see him on the pats squad!! He is a 4 year starter and a phenomenal pass rusher and he has never been in any off the field incidents.

You need a punter - Zoltan Mesko another great

You need a DB that could be a year long project - Donovan Warren - JR but has all the skills to be a good DB and with the Pats work ethic - even Better!!

The Pats need a pass rusher that can step in make an impact. If Graham is that guy, sign him up.  You're right about a punter, also....they guy we have now is putrid.  They don't need anymore project db's, that was Butler this year and wilhite the year before.  Butler is going to be a top level player.  The secondary is fine, there is a lot of talent back there and it's very young.  What they need is another OLB and a few pass rushers, because I don't care if you have Revis and Bailey back there, if the qb has time to throw passes get completed.  You can't expect qb to hold wr's and te's for 5 seconds.

As long as Derrick Mason remembers how to catch, I like Baltimore's chances. If the Texans can pound the ball down the Patriots throats throat, the Ravens sure can.

I'm sure the Ravens are DYING for a rematch with the Colts. That 15-6 loss must still be lingering in their heads. Manning had perhaps his WORST postseason performance ever; yet the Colts won. That's got to hurt.

No doubt...but they have a player who can give you 70- 75% of what Welker does.  Edlemen went for over 100 yards in the slot vs the Texans. Also, keep in mind the pats have Faulk, who can play in the slot and they have hidden most of their two tight end sets over the course of the year.  They have plenty of offensive weapons.

The Patriots sat their two pro bowl defensive linemen last week (one of which is the best nose tackle in the NFL) and their best corner.  The patriots are pretty good against the run....did you see them shutdown Jones Drew the week before?  The Ravens won't win with the run. They might win, but it won't be with the run, imo.

Worst loss ever. I was at that game and believe me, it stung a lot of fans. 13-3 regular season and the #2 seed. We had no offense that day but the Ravens defense was stifiling and killing anything the Colts could muster. Mcnair threw a devastating INT near the Colts goalline that pretty much sealed the loss. We would have played the Patriots for the AFC title in Baltimore had we won.

Might have been their best team ever. They were absolutely loaded on defense that year. Adalius Thomas, Ray Lewis, and Bart Scott at LB and Samari Rolle and Mcalister in their prime, starting at CB. Mcnair was a spark all season that year but completely tanked once the playoffs started.

But beating Peyton Manning isn't easy. The Colts could have went 16-0 this year but decided not to. They have two players with 100 catches on offense. all because of Manning. He's an absolute stud.

He is a stud, but he also has many more weapons than people want to admit.  His offensive line is by far the best in the NFL...they've allowed TEN sacks all season.  He's still got Dallas Clark and Reggie Wayne (who is having a huge year), plus to pretty good backs in Brown and Addai.  His defense has two of the NFL's best pass rushers, a great Lb in Bathea and a good corner in Hayden. Manning is a BEAST, but people are acting as if his team sucks, which is laughable.

That's why I said that loss in 2006 playoffs had to sting something awful.

Let's face it. For all his regular season accomplishment (he's a Fantasy Football player's dream), Manning plays like absolute GARBAGE in the post-season. He has choked year after year after year.

The only difference between all the other years and '06 is that his defense and special teams (especially Adam Vinateri) saved his behind, when he was throwing picks, left and right.

Ummm, in 2006 he won himself a little 'ol Super Bowl title......Manning is the one guy you want to lead a team in the clutch. He's  up there with the best in today's NFL.

Manning is among the best ever. But as a whole, he has played very poor in the playoffs. He's been bad a lot more than he's been good.

To have won 12+ games fors the last 6 years and only have 1 sb to show for it is pretty crappy.

That's my point. Yes, Manning has a ring. But, as I said, he's played AWFUL in the playoffs. Look at the 2006 playoffs.

NO touchdowns, 3 pics in the Wildcard game vs. KC

NO touchdowns, 3 pics in the Divisional game vs. Baltimore.

The first half of the AFC title game against New England, an interception for a TD and some horrible throws.

The big difference between those other years and 2006 is that defense and special teams FINALLY got it together. In fact, they had to do so in 2006, to atone for Manning's early mistakes.

Manning didn't really get his head right, until that second half of the AFC title game.

Ravens advance! I love how all of these "experts" on NFL live, NFL network and CBS all picking the Patriots. Keep pushing those pencils boys.

Can the Ravens beat a #1 seed on the road for a second consecutive year?

Why not? Every team is 0-0 when the postseason starts.

GO RAVENS
