Eating to the point of intoxication

Have you ever eaten so much in one sitting that you feel drunk, like at a buffet?  Happened to me once a few years ago when me and my roomates went to go celebrate our new place.  What causes this?  Insulin spike?

Ahh yes, the food coma.  This is brought on by deep dish pizza, beer, and chicken wings for me.
