probably early 1960's dave was a physique competetor before he switched to olympic style lifting . he was considered one of the top 20 or so bbers in england but could never win contest against smaller men. he stood 6 ft 7 and weighed usually around 275lbs. dave always thought the judges scored him down because he had a pair of ugly feet if you can believe that.

Dave Prowse was also featured on tv in the 70s over here in England on a lot of gameshows,and was also chosen to be the Green Cross Road man,the adverts used to be shown to teach kids how to cross the road safely.Then he changed that costume and became Darth Vader.
