If/When the GOP takes over in 2010 or 2012...
« on: November 10, 2009, 07:36:14 AM »
What will they do to change things?

The common answer seems to be "Cut spending!" but that will result in a lot of jobs lost.  Remember the reason neither candidate in 08 would admit *where* they'd cut spending is because any cut in any sector means a lot of jobs get slashed.

SO if we're sitting at 12 or 15% official unemployment and the GOP takes over - what are they going to do, specifically?

It depends on what kind of republicans win.If its Lindsey Graham types nothing will change. If its Mike Pence types they will try to cut taxes. If its Ron Paul types they will eliminate everything.lol.Unfortuna tely I dont see too many Ron Paul types out there,so the only thing that will change is they can slow Obamas agenda but really do nothing.

So what if they cut taxes?

What will NY, Cali, and other cash-strapped govts do if suddenly 20% of their income is gone?  They're close to collapse now.

What does cutting Federal taxes have to do with state and local taxes?

240 - our income in NY is already down 30%.  They need to cut spending to reflect the income and obtain concessions from state workers and cut the crap spending.

cutting spending doesnt mean lost jobs 240 and when the stimulus provides 1.5 million to create 3 jobs i think those jobs we could do without  ::)

cutting wasteful spending and actually targeting bringing the economy back online with the spending you do have is what needs to be done. I think we can all agree that the stimulus has done next to nothing and when you take into account the debt we are worse off then we were...

cutting spending doesnt mean lost jobs

Really?

Is this general statement true?

You can cut spending without cutting jobs?

Let's leave out all the talk about the stim package, obama, etc.  When a GOP candidate promised to cut spending in a major way - what is exactly going to get cut?  My understanding is that projects deemed wasteful (that still employ people) are the ones that get slashed.  This is, again, why neither candidate will admit WHERE the spending will be cut.  Because people in that sector will lose jobs.

Cutting taxes generates more revunue to the government, not less. This is lib lie.The problem is,as revenues go up,the dummies in the government spend more of it.

No 240 youre wrong cutting programs may lead to some lost jobs but cutting spending doesnt necessarily have to lead to cutting jobs...the two are not mutually exclusive.

and again wasteful spending as in the stimulus or other inefficient govt programs are doing more harm than good so losing a 3 jobs that cost the tax payers 1.5 million will be a net gain  ;)

LOL who knows what exactly will be cut? you didnt seem to care much about where exactly the stim money would be spent  ::) what are you worried about now?

youre wrong about the neither candidate comment, wrong b/c only one candidate is looking as cutting spending...and there isnt a D by their name  ;)

240- IMMEDIATELY give all small businesses a 1 year tax deference. You don't skip paying taxes, you just have a year without them and afterwords you can pay for the year over a short period of time. Business owners will gobble this up- with the freed revenue they can get some employees and start humming again. The econ improves and when the taxes need to be re-paid there is money to do so. It's the most basic economic principle you could think of. Keep in mind how unfriendly this country and certain areas in particular are to businesses. Think of all the countries like germany or france who would like to invest here and get some factories built but they would never make any money! Make the country business friendly to both foreign and domestic companies and you have your answer. Tax and spend is ludicrous but more-so is print what's not there and spend it, then force some absurd and costly medical program on americans that we don't even want. And pay for a useless war and blah blah. Obama is doing everything wrong. He panders to special interests and that's about it. He is useless. I knew he was a one term prez from the start and I will be happy when he fails.

The best thing to do would be what Ronald Reagan did when the economy was far worse the day he took office than it was when Obamination took office. Cut taxes and regulations on business.
Facts are facts, this really worked. It's history................. .what amazes me is that we are not doing this now.  Well actually it does not amaze me as the real goal hear by our current administration is to not really help us but to break our backs and make us into dependants of the government.
Socialism is hear and rising. God help us all.

BANG!

We need to reindustrialize and build many new factories, nuke plants, and attract foreign investors.

Right now the message of the govt to everyone is a big "FUCK YOU!"

Businesses and investors are acting accordingly and voting with their dollars.

Nuclear power is very clean by todays standards, Europe already uses it with no problems.  It is cheaper and cleaner than coal and can provide sufficient energy to power any innovations in electric cars etc that may come accross.

Right now, electric cars would be fueled by coal since many electric plants are coal fired as it is.

Yup. Obama has mostly been concerned with the following (in order).

1. Bailing out his rich buddies from losing their asses with their atrocious investments. Does he really believe in zero risk investing? Well of course not nobody does. Unless you buy a president and put him into office...
2. His popularity.
3. Forcing socialized medicine on us whether we want it or can afford it or not.
4. Running around the world apologizing for the horrible monster that is America and all the horrible things we have done.
5. Taking away our guns (thought not quite there yet. His attention is on step 3 and 4 right now). Give him a year. When it gets closer to 2012 and he is for sure a one term prez watch how motivated he becomes and how much media brainwashing comes out of nowhere.

You notice I did not include
1. A strong US dollar
2. A strong and viable military
3. Responsible gov spending
4. The viability of american businesses
5. Strong borders
6. Our future

They were omitted for a reason- he does not care! The facts are staring you straight in the face if you open your fucking eyes.

Funny you say that.  A buddy of mine moved from NYC to Cary, NC and I spoke to him last night and he said living in NYC is like a war zone compared to NC.

I guess I exhibit battle fatigue in my own way with the crap I deal with.   I am so trying to get our of here.

I am sick of NYC.  I have been here my whole life and its just too much.  The costs, the hustle and bustle, the chaos, the liberal bs.

I want to have a ranch with acres, streams, and mountains.  The concrete jungle just aint cutting it any more.
