Congress Affirms Iraq Withdrawal Date of December 31, 2011


Thu, 10/29/2009 - 1:56pm
With final action in the Senate today, Congress has approved legislation that formally recognizes the U.S. obligation to withdraw from Iraq and requires the Pentagon to provide quarterly reports on the progress of that withdrawal.

This is the first time since the invasion of Iraq in 2003 that Congress has passed legislation that affirms that the United States is committed to leaving Iraq by a specific date, two national Quaker organizations, the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) and the Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL) said today.

I'm glad the exit strategy is in place for Iraq.  We need to focus on Afghan-Pakistan right now.

it's all legal and whatnot.  Bush put the withdraw date in before he left office.  plus i'm pretty sure the iraqi security forces are way scarier than our guys.  We have the technology and better everything, but they have no leash and they know the language and the land.  I'm betting bad guys are way more scared when CNN leaves lol...

Actually, it's pretty clear. Now they know when we're leaving. Any terrorist/insurgent with an IQ over 40 (not many) would just wait until the day after we leave and then run wild all over Iraq.

Well bright spot, you seem to be having a hard time wrapping your head around something like that. Maybe you should take a class on reading comprehension? I assume it will work out like when they announce a massive offensive in an area where terrorists are known to be and then wonder why they weren't there when the troops roll in four weeks later.  ::)

a definitive statement by BF that they can't defend themselves.  What are you saying about the troops that have busted their ass getting them ready?  If they can't do it after all these years of being helped and trained, they will never do it.  Yea, so maybe they have to go through the test of having us gone.  It's gotta happen as some fucking point... how many years has it been now BF?
