I don't have HBO... but I fell in love with the WIRE this year.  I just watched all 5 seasons in a month and want more.

Any shows/series you can recommend that are on par with the 'cool police shiit' of a WIRE or SHIELD?

although a COMPLETELY different type of show I would highly recommend Dexter.  First season was awesome.  I've watched all three.  Nothing tops the Wire in my opinion but Dexter is definitely number 2 or 3 in my opinion.

The whole scene in the house was pretty good.  The ATF agent is bad ass but you know she is getting whacked or raped next season.

I like Sons of Anarchy.   Cool show.

First season was good.  Now it's just stupid.  It's gotten really really bad.  Jax as a tough guy was fairly believable in the first season but second season it's just gotten silly.

I used to really like the Shield but after watching a really great show like the Wire the Shield is embarrassing to watch.  That's how I feel about Sons of Anarchy.  Gemma running off with Chief Unser?  Kidnapping Abel?  How stupid can the plot get?  Terrible.

i watched the Shield and loved it.  Unrealstic at times, but well worth it.

The Wire was a major step up for me - way more intelligent and a cool combination of politics, drugs, and gunplay.

I dig cool spy shows like "The Unit" and "The Agency" as well.
