LOL, I have a friend from Argentina who has those EXACT proportions.

She's half Argentinian, and half Armenian, and we can't figure out where she got her booty,

It isn't a "woman" thing (but we are more likely to show this behavior)

It is more of a North American thing.

This is one of the reasons XXXLinda was considered harsh.
Most Europeans will tell you if you look fat or silly if you ask, most are far more diplomatic about it though.

I try and follow this philosophy.
I want to be known as the friend who is going to give you the truth for better or worse.
I think that has more value then trying not to hurt feelings but silently "laughing".

I couldn't agree with you more. it's definitely a North American thing.
I've always treasured honesty (with diplomacy), but I've found many North Americans, especially Americans would prefer you lie to them, ...even if they know you're lieing. It confounds me everytime.
