back to the future, a 4 star movie that won many prestigious awards is "cheesy" and commando isn't ??

and yes everybody likes that movie except you, did you actually watch it from beginning to end?

E
Commando is an action film BTTF is a kids film  ::)
Everybody ? um no.

The standards from that era were hardly high , giving somthing four stars from that day and age hardly = a great movie.. ::)

it's pg 13, probably because a mom putting the moves on her son doesn't qualify as a "kids film"

and you're right the standards are so much higher today with all the remakes, i guess godfather wasn't a good movie either since it was made about 13 years before back to the future ::)

Yes , you proberly rate "the care bares movie" also..
 ::)
So many better films were released in 85.
Cocoon .
The Color Purple
Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome

The Jewel of the Nile
Mask.
Prizzi's Honor

The only thing that BTTF had was it grossed well , which means it was hyped well world wide, still not a great film..

Haha for you to even mention the godfather in the same post is remarkeble.

Its a kids film dude just like goonies.

Things I know about steroids: girlfriends are against them, flannel shirts always complement a big dude juicer (however i prefer mine without the sleeves).

Things I didnt know about steroids: they make you irrational, you enjoy black cats, and when going through withdraws you will dislocate your shoulder and dry hump the floor against your will (no homo).

mad max beyond thunderdome hahahaha

other than maybe color of purple, none of those are considered to be 4 star movies and no they don't get stars based on money grossed

i mentioned the godfather because you said that the standards were low back then

were they low in 1985 but high in 1972, and somehow high today with remake after remake? ::)

also none of those movies were made into a universal studios ride, cartoon, and had two sequels

just because a movie lacks the F word, nudity, or excessive violence doesn't make it a kids film it's a movie that can be enjoyed by all audiences

i'd say ET is a kids film, i don't see how that makes it a bad movie

Honestly, how can you not like that movie? It might be a family movie, but its not a kid's movie. I still thinks it highly entertaining.

Id rate ET as a great movie and BTTF is nowhere near in the same ball park.

How does a movie get a four star rating?
All those movies I mentioned received awards that year be it through individual or whole movie.

Of course you will get sequels when a film "grsos's" well , how many academy awards did it win?

Cocoon had  a sequel , The Jewel of the nile was a Sequel ,MM3 was also yet you just laughed at that so what point are you trying to make with this train of thought. It also spawned a hit for Tina Turner..The Power Of Love For Huey Louis wasnt on the same level  :D

then you can't knock bttf for being a "kids movie"

it gets a 4 star rating by being an epic movie 8)

awards  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088763/awards

You know when you loved a movie when you were a kid you still like it when you get older. Except Police Academy, I watched that shit recently and holy fuckk, terrible. Besides the tittays obviously

i hated police academy even when i was a kid and yes back to the future is one of the best ever imo..

Bttf also spawned cartoons and started convos in mainstream media about time travel. I'd say many of todays astro-physicists count it as a movie that help them choose that.

That last few seconds, the guy knelt and whispered in her ear, "I'm telling Mom that you were dancing with Negroes."  Little did he know that his tattling would be unnecessary, as it was soon obvious that even more had transpired, when this young man welcomed his biracial nephew, "Lil' Shabazz" , into the world, several miles away from this school as the family had left town under a dark cloud of shame.  Yep, 1985 was indeed a memorable year.

How much did you buy the Collectors Edition of this movie for?

For a gay negro who was still hiding in the closet, it probably did suck.
