I knew a white kid in high school who did that for college. He claimed he was 1/32 Seminole, I believed he got a scholarship to Florida State. On everything else he put white.

Nope. I think one has to be at least 1/32 NA to qualify.
I remember racing that dude on track, and him saying, "you wouldn't let this white man beat you.", yet he's claiming NA on paperwork for a scholarship.

His claim and/or your story is dubious.  I have lived on, or visited, every Seminole reservation in Florida (as well as that of other tribes).  If he were really a Seminole, the tribe would pay his tuition bill; they will do that for any legitimate Seminole who wants to go to college, graduate or professional school.  Claiming to be 1/32 a Seminole would not get him any recognition or favors in college admissions.  If your friend went to FL State and got a scholarship his 1/32 claim had nothing to do with it.

This was back in 1995. All I know is I saw him filling out forms, and he was saying that he was 1/32 Seminole and he was applying for scholarships for Florida State. Don't know if he got in, and I didn't care, I just thought it was odd that someone who is white for everything else, is now a NA, hell, I could be NA too, as well.
