is that the guy that went and lived with them and was eaten?  There's something about those guys, you know they're really onto something.  At the very least they've shown the world that there can be a whole lot more animal/human interaction than we once thought.  He's not the only one that does that stuff.

He showed that what he thought was a meaningful interaction was merely a degree of tolerance, on a bad day they ate him. Interaction of the primal kind.

I don't know, mere tolerance was definitely not what it looked like between them.  Same with these other guys that live with the bears or that one with the wolves.  They seem to let him in and enjoy him as they would a friend.  You're right about the last part though...I think people forget, the animals don't kill people so much because they are wild animals but more because they are big animals and all animals have bad days or days when they haven't eaten.  Squirrels and racoons are wild.  They can be befriended and they can get angry and bite you, but they don't have the potential to be physically deadly(rabies is a different story)...it's not just their wildness, it's they themselves.

I had to do a survival exercise last year: make your own shelter, make a fire, kill and eat a chicken etc.

It looks alright on TV, but in real(ish) life it's a complete ballache - everything is so much effort, esp when you're wet, cold and tired. I quickly learned that if I was ever in a real survival situation I would just curl up into the foetal position and hope for a quick death.

Thanks for the honesty purple Aki.

Once I was hiking with a friend and we seperated heading back to the car, well I took the wrong route and got lost for like 5 minutes, in beautiful perfect weather mind you, and I was totally freaked out and scared.  So I understand what ur saying.  Thankfully I found my way out.  But if I was to get lost in the woods, I would much prefer to be with someone.
