Hulkamania is running wild in my town!
« on: November 24, 2009, 12:47:48 AM »
And the Hulkster is on the radio basically begging people to buy tickets for tonight's show with Rick Flair as the heel.  "Two for the price of one!  Gonna be a great show!  Come on out tonight!"  There was panic in his voice.  Maybe they've only sold 40 seats so far.

He's not really a childhood hero since I was never into wrestling, but it was still sad to find the Hulkster on the radio this morning (on a very small station too) trying desperately to whip up ticket sales on the day of the event.  :(

At least he spent some time with some sick kids and tried to give 'em a thrill.  But wouldn't these kids be saying, "Who the fuck is this loud American guy and why is he dressed like that?"

He's been getting good publicity over here. Was on a lot of the big tv/radio shows. Everyone knows Hulk Hogan.
No doubt about it...

His PR people are probably earning their pay getting him out there, but I don't watch much TV so this morning was the first I heard from him, trying to fill the seats at Burswood.  In the link above he's talking like this is a real comeback, but if he can't even fill Burswood it might be hard going for him.

The radio spot this morning was painful.  The announcer said Rick Flair's name and Hogan starts going off about how you better be in my corner brother or I'm gonna come and find ya.  The dj says sure ok and Hulk just keeps hammering on about it.  Four or five times the dj says "Ok Hulk.  No worries."  Really using that end of the conversation tone of voice and Hogan just kept on and on, plugging the show, etc.  It was fuckin' tragic.

Btw, I thought the $5000 from the casino was better then a sharp stick in the kid's eyes but wtf?  $5000?!  Gee, thanks.  Hogan craps bigger than that.  He must have been wondering what happened to the last zero.

Wrestling is dying off anyway. mma and shit like that is getting so big that it's hard to see how wrestling could stay sticking around for much longer.

No doubt about it...

We have plenty of bogans, paticularly in Perth......i always assumed that american red necks and australian bogans were pretty much the same. Guess they are a bit different.
No doubt about it...

Fuck Hogan. It would help if they were running a decent card. No one wants to watch scrubs, especially while paying.

I can imagine why, lol. It's the equivalent of Frank Zane talking about having a posedown with Ed Corney in their current shape. Sure, it would have been interesting 30 years ago, but very few people in the current generation care about the Hulkster or the nature boy.

You're preaching to the choir brother.

Tobacca chawin' good ol boys rate a little higher on the stupid scale while bogans have a greater capacity for laziness and hopelessness.  Both, however, seem to take some perverse pride in being poor and living in filth.

Perhaps Hulkster is a cultural phenomenon, like Elvis on velvet.  Difficult to export.  He may do better in the Americanized East tho.  After all, you guys have Taco Bell and Starbucks, and the Burger King told Hungry Jack to fuck off.

I think Hungry Jack fought back.  :o

So besides washed up old wrestlers, how are things in Perth these days?

I still have time to get to the show with some props.  They'd get huge press if Hogan hit Flair with a walker!

Quite shitty at the moment, thanks.  I'm knocking off on the 11th (& turning 37  ::)) and the work schedule is getting chockers.  And this after a slow 2 weeks where I've had to take on jobs to keep the crew going which are worth jack shit.  Haven't made this kind of crap money in like 5 years, so looking forward to kicking ass next Monday and through to the 11th with something that's worth getting out of bed for.  & on my own again because this woman cannot get her shit together.

Bitch bitch bitch.  Thank god for b-celebrity failings to give us chuckles.

Unlike in the WWE, both Flair and Hogan will get the majority of box ticket sales which translates into possibly a couple million for each.  I would be on the radio begging if I was going to rake in some loot

Hulk was a spokesman for Movember this year and had an interview with Channel 10 during their news broadcast. The journo who was interviewing him had to stop himself from pissing out laughing when he kept saying prostrate instead of prostate.
