No pain no gain
« on: November 28, 2009, 08:23:38 PM »
Is this true for bodybuilding?  Muscle building to be specific.

Are you sure it's not: no gayin, no payin.

yes, that is what is implied, LOL.

but yea, i think you should bust your ass in the gym. But don't mistake busting your ass with going all out for endless hours hitting failure and post-failure in your workouts. Hard workout = hard and heavy with moderate volume. Forces reps and drop sets = should be employed occasionally, and not overused.

sure because if you are natural and you want to build muscles you MUST reach the point of failure in every set and this is somehow painful!!.. but if you really like this sport you must like this kind of pain!!..

Compared to most endurance sports, using the word "pain" for bodybuilding is really ridiculous.

Agree with Wavelenght. And if anyone thinks going to failure, every set, is needed in BB'ing, they are wrong. BB'ing need not be painful labor. Work hard, but smart.

Back day and leg day are by far more painful, than all other smaller body parts.

i'd say if you can hold a straight face throughout a set, it's not painful enough

actually i think every one of us experiences real pain when training his weakest parts seriously.. i am naturally stronger in pull movements than press movements so even when i lack energy i never feel weak to train my back or my biceps but if i feel weak on a certain day and i am supposed to train my chest or shoulders, i just do some quick machines movments and leave after 10 minutes!!..

Thats true. The deadlifts is another killer exercise.
We do it twice a week. but one is the stiff leg deadlift after quads exercises.Another is the regular deadlifts after lat exercises.

yes i do both too.. the normal deadlifts is a constant in all my back workouts, sometimes i do it as the first exercise when i want to go heavy for few reps and sometimes i do it the last exercise and do more reps.. as for the stiff leg i somtimes do it with dumbbells instead of the bar and sometimes i do good morning exercise instead of it.. good morining is another tough one for hams!!..
