agree or disagree
« on: November 30, 2009, 04:04:34 PM »
this is a Bodybuilding site.  It's not a Look at how much Money I have site or Look at all the famous people I know site, or even FaceBook or the like

here, we'd rather bag groceries at the local supermarket but have nineteen inch guns and be banging a hot chick, then have millions but a fifty inch waist to go with it

agree or disagree?

We are all life's bitch. Nobody, especially Americans have life by the balls. Material wealth is man made, so what we judge ourselves by, is by the standards set by other men, who in turn set their standards by other men, and etc. This is not living a fulfilled life, it's sucking the cock of envitiblility . If we wish to change that, then you or I must seek happiness from within, and not give a fuck about if you have 50 mil or 500 mil, but you get up each day and you feel good, people say good things about you, and you can see your cock without moving your belly out of the way. When you die, people can always think of the postive and how you made them feel.

Men think if they strike it rich, that all their problems will disappear, the same with women landing a rich husband. And what happens, they find out that they are more miserable when they were broke or with a man who loved them right. There is no one solution. So people get that out of your heads! It must be Western thing, specifically a American thing, that there is one cure all for everything. I think it really shows how miserable we truly are and try  to mask it with material objects. And not willing to face the real problem, which is our society is rotten from the inside.

I have no aspirations of being rich. I would like to be comfortable.

I am 23 and working in the same job I had at 16. I should be out by now and am on a waiting list for a good job. I am being left behind in terms of career progression by some people who in school were not half as intelligent as me. If I don't sort myself out ASAP I am afraid I will really get left behind!

At least I am moving in the right direction!

My parents were poor, but i never had a want or care, I was pretty much spoiled. But I was taught to be thankful. But when you go to school with people were not taught to be thankful and a whole generation that believes that everything should be handed to them on a silver platter, and if that shit is cold...they complain.

Money isn't bringing John Travolta's son back. Nor will it make Stephen Hawkings body better. Don't get me wrong, I would love to able to afford every exotic car I could name, and be able to take a trip anywhere. But it seems that material wealth seems to exacerbate  or magnify the problems we already have. And those weaknesses. After that we then succumb to loneliness, then loneliness of the soul. Not all of those people do, some do quite well. Others like Don Trump become obsessed with it.

The truth is there needs to be balance between all, a equilibrium.

X2.

Also for every rich person with problems there are even more with poor people. I don't see the point, seen plenty of people with tons of money that are happy. It's just so easy to point out the negatives.

I'd rather be rich with problems than poor with problems anyday.

Quite true, what is the saying, being rich just allows you to live in comfort with your problems, or something like that. There are also poor people who are happy. There are lots of homeless people who are happy as can be.  I've talk to some and they are just HAPPY, i don't understand it, but they would rather live without the cares and worries that having a job, home, family would bring. I guess we throw so much away in terms of food that he could eat and feel good.  i mean, when Mcdonald's Breakfast ends, they throw all the food out.

I think what people really mean is that they search for purpose, and whether you are rich or poor, life without purpose is what drives us to other things...

I'm just fucking with you P.   ;)  The things you mention are paramount and can't be replaced by money.  However, the practical reality is that money will provide a better quality of life.  Not so much by way of extravagances like hot sports cars, but substantial things like affording top notch health care for yourself and your family, sufficient leisure time with your family instead of working like a dog and being nothing but tired when with your loved ones, not being relegated to a crappy neighbourhood with high crime and an underfunded school for your kids, not having your kid's choice of uni dictated by financial constraints, etc.

You're talking about buying Ferraris and shit tho so maybe you're talking about being filthy.  In that case you definitely get decreasing returns on the things I've been talking about as you exceed being sufficiently well off.  I suppose I could make a case for the benefits of generational wealth but the odds of that happening for me wouldn't favor a betting man.

But I agree with you more or less.  Prioritize the priorities.

You know what is weird, since X-mas is comming up. I never really looked forward to the gifts, but spending time with my family. My family doesn't even really watch TV during the holidays, because we keep each other laughing. So, my priorities will always be family. If I was stupidly, insanely rich, I would forgo all extravagances just to make sure that my immediate family was well taken care of. Once they are taken care of, only then, and in moderation would I buy the stuff I desire...But those cars...I would take them to a car show for underprivledged kids, or have a museum in which people would donate to a  charity to get in...therefore they would be enriching the lives of others while learning about say a Ferrari 250 GT http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrari_250.

People like the Sultan of Brunei who have soo many cars that after he runs his Rolls Royces into the ground, dumps them in the S. China sea, really seem to be either bored, or don't want to share the joy of his 5,000 cars with others.

You know, sometimes the more you have of something, the less value you put on it...The less we have of it, the more we value it.

I remember reading a Car and Driver article about him, back in the late 90's...and that is what he would do. Instead of selling the cars...he would dump them. There are supposedly a shitload of Rolls bumpers serving as impromtu reefs. That seems to be a "I have it, but you can't have anything that i ever had mentality" He has Pininfarina build him 4 door Ferraris and stationwagon Ferraris, and get this...he is known in Maranello as a very bad driver, the Ferrari minders can't stand when he test drives a Ferrari.

He has or had Ferrari F40's in all different colors, yet can't drive them. He even had a Dauer Porsche 962 and a Jag that the factory would fly a guy out to service them. Yet, the mofo can't drive. WTF, that is like having a harem full of beautiful women, yet can't fuck worth a lick...shit you have all the practice in the world.

It boggles my mind.
