Heavy, Can I recommend that ride for our Basic Cold Weather Survival Training Course?
Sounds harsh! Does it really include some wolverines?!!
Where is that tundra-town you speak so kindly of? And what is the source of lively-hood up there?
And in reference to "Big Game" - A friend of mine up your way used to survive as a Polar Bear Guide until one's jaws encircled his chest, but he managed to survive and still respects and loves those critters.
I bet I can send you (or post) photos that would make your town look like Paradise.

Ya, Winnipeg. I'm currently in Yellowknife.
The tundra's a pretty harsh environment at the best of times, but it's great for snowmobiling and quading. Hunting and fishing too. Paradise for the outdoors type. Summers are unreal, with nothing but sunlight. It's hard to know when to end the party when the sun doesn't go down.
No polar bears here; they're found farther east. We deal mostly with wolves, black bears, wolverines, moose and caribou, and some smaller shit. Grizzlies farther onto the tundra. I'm barely past the tree line. Wolverines are smaller than most people expect, but they're very powerful for their size. They've been known to fcuk a grizzly over. Good looking animals though.
When I mentioned "big game", I was referring to poker.
