Tiger Wood - 15 women and sponsors not jumping ship
« on: December 03, 2009, 08:23:26 AM »

As I stated earlier this week, Tiger's corporate sponsors aren't going anywhere.

Nike, Gatorade, Gillette, and AT&T are sticking with him.  EA Sports is still onboard and expect Tag Heuer to be as well.  The only major I haven't heard from yet is Accenture and based on what the others have done - and the reasoning behind it - I retract my previous prediction that they might possibly look to modify their agreement.  Accenture isn't going to change any of their marketing at all.  When you fly through the world's airports, it's still Tiger's face that you're going to see all over.

I don't see why his sponsors would jump ship on him. I mean the guy is a damn great golfer and a huge international celebrity. You think he is not going to have women throwing the twat at him. I mean its not like the guy bank rolled a dog fighting organization ::)

x2. If anything it'll bring some much-needed attention to the products that Tiger is sponsored by especially in light of the current economic climate.

Haha - imagine - Gillette will be raking it in - they have these three guys advertising their razors:

Tiger = cheated on his pregnant wife
Thierry Henry = cheated by handling the ball which put Ireland out the World Cup
Roger Federer = ? Anything you want to tell us Roger?

He's like Notre Dame.  He's had some success in the past, but cannot accept that he's not given any respect because he's not Texas, Florida, or USC.

Will it be, "Hey, Tiger did it, so it's ok." or, "Tiger cheated on his wife, just like I am doing, I should make it out ok, I mean, I am human...just like Tiger."

Of course they aren't going anywhere.  That's marketing 101. His sponsors waited until they saw what the public reaction was and then they made their decision. Tiger's made himself MORE appealing to their target demo, men 25-54. What do you mean when you say: "the only major I haven't heard from yet is Accenture".  Don't you mean we?

No.  That's not what it's about.  Often times athletes like Tiger (highly educated, the best of all time, well spoken, etc) seem superhuman.  It's not that people will identify with what Tiger has done....they will identify with Tiger having the ability to make a major MISTAKE.  Your average 35-40 year old male (The guy Tiger's sponsors are targeting) obviously can identify with using poor judgement.  Whether that be at work, in the home or driving down the road speeding. &guy is now more appealing to most of his fans, because he showed that he is flawed, just like everyone else.

they all may be waiting to see how this all transpires, if they feel that Tiger is seen in a negative light they will drop him.

They've already done that.  You can gauge public reaction within the first week.  Trust me, the agencies responsible for these endorsement deals have millions tied up in Tiger....it would take a lot more than this to make them pull the plug.

Not gonna happen.

If a company felt that Tiger's image was tarnished and decided to drop him, then their biggest competitor would sign him up the very next day.

Until he commits a crime (and a significant one at that), he's untouchable.

His biggest problem now is that Elin holds almost all the cards in a re-negotiation of their pre-nup.

It would be a shame if he didn't use some of his fame and wealth to take advantage of a few (hundred or so) pussy pounding opportunities.
