i love the supra dont get me wrong, i have one in my garage right now.

but it's all peak horsepower with a supra. the power curve is usually shit.

for top end runs they are great. if i am racing from a 60-70mph roll....a supra is my weapon of choice (after my bikes)

they are a high reving turbo car, thus low end/low RPM power leaves to be desired.

Sorry Muscle, no disrespect but...

how many F1 Championships Dodge did win?
How many Endurance World Championships Dodge did win?
how many 24Hours of Les Mans Dodge did win?
how many Gran Touring Championships Dodge did win?

Again no disrespect but an anvil will never be a Leonardo da Vinci masterpiece.

that's true American car generally don't handle well...however if you look at how incredibly powerful and fast a charger is on the quarter mile and look at how cheap it is to get all that power, it's incredible how many expensive cars it beats. they're made for one purpose affordable power.

American cars = low end TORQUE (fast in a straight line, does not rev much more than 2.500-3.000)

Japanese cars = High reving horsepower (usually small engines with a turbo, lack of power in low revs)

European cars = somewhere in between, especially BMW it has some low end torque and some high rev HP, but doesn't like to rev more than 5.500

The old saying is what's the difference between a 500hp Supra and a 900hp Supra? nothing they both do 12.7 in the 1/4 lol

Supposedly a lot of Supras make a LOT of horsepower on the dyno but when push comes to shove that doesn't translate on the track .

Here is the thing, and bench can answer as well. The veyron has 365 rears ( for the Grand Sport), that are specially made, it has 987 hp, 923 pound feet of torque and all wheel drive. I sincerely doubt that a 1200 hp Supra or Gallardo or Mustang, has rears, that are made specifically for the street mind you, to handle all that hp and torque. So why invest all that time and effort to not put all that down to the ground?I saw one YouTube vid where the dude had a 1400 hp (claimed) Supra, he was accelerating on the street at night, and he was bragging about leaving 30 ft of rubber, that means his tires were spinning, and he wasn't putting it down, correct?

Exactly horsepower means dick without traction . hooking up on the street on street tries opposed to a sticky treated track after warming your slicks is another. you ever seen the vid of the Veyron just talking off from a stand still? about 2 feet of chirping from the tires and it was gone they got it right , four wheel drive , traction control etc

A guy across the street had a cougar, sittingin the garage. It was a convertible, I think he was leaving or wanted to fix it up for his son. Was not to be, he sold it. His son was a expert in Crash em Up Bang em Up, so no Cougar for him.

they do have tires for that...but even though they are street tires they are still purpose intent ie:street/drag-street/road course. so you are correct.

the veyron however has a lot less horsepower to the wheels than advertised due to the all wheel drive, and special tires.

at one point i had a 700 rwhp supra and it ran a 9.9 at 136 in the 1/4...my buddy had a 1000+ hp supra and it ran a 9.7 at 140 in the 1/4. we both had 712-740 rwtq.

so when it comes to racing a supra or anything else it all goes back to my original statement.....gotta have torque!!!

What type of turbo set up did you and him have? I'm guessing single big boy Garret? Did you stroke the engine out?

i had a single garret 88mm turbo. i made all the piping and ported the head myself. all tuning was done by me with a FAST stand alone unit.

the engine was not strocked or anything. the enternals were replaced with forged pistons, crank, and billet rods. i sold it for cheap as hell too.

i am not sure about his car. he still has it so i will find out later.

i just recently got a 1998 supra for $2000, it is a theft salvage. they took all the speakers/radio, the entire intake system(air filter to the manifold),the exhaust, the seats, and cut most of the wires in the process. since i have the ability to cut and weld the piping i can make the intake, and exhaust. i have enough wiring components lying around to get this thing running. i also have a spare garret 96mm turbo and spearco three core intercooler. all i have to buy is a intake manifold, muffler, seat brackets (already ordered 2 sparcos) and forged pistons/crank, and billet rods.

the owner of the car gave me the fuel system he was going to use, and i personally think it will handle the kinda power i plan on making.

Aint that the truth.  I've seen a lot of impressive numbers from Supras.  Not sooo much on the track.

Ahhhh, there are a lot in the 9's, 10's, 11's, 8's, and as one poster already commented. Comes down to traction, and driver.

I live pretty close to RUF tuning here in Dallas, seen some very impressive cars like the RT12's, Yellowbird, GT3RS's, etc.... :o

American cars are starting to get good again, but the general perception of them has already been tarnished, most americans will NEVER buy an american car. Just take a look at what is on the streets, hondas, toyotas, hyundais, kias, nissan, etc... There are more imports then ever, that is not including the euro cars.

Dayum, you must have a ball. But as far as the American cars go, did you hear of Bob Lutz's challenge. He challanged anybody with a production 4 door, showroom stock to beat the Caddy CTS-V, which has the 4 door production car record on the 'Ring. No one could beat it on the track. Including M5's, E63s, Evos, Jags.

I'm really impressed by the production CTS coupe as well, if they have a V version, I just may take a very serious look.
