Has anybody bought a pair of Magnum boots lately?
I’ve been reading mixed reviews about them.
 
I bought 3 pairs of their tactical series between 2000-2002, and actually still have every one.
They’re incredibly comfortable & durable, but I was wondering what their quality is like these days.

Although I’m very happy with how mine have held up, it’s time to replace some of them.

my last department issued magnums to me....i gave them back.

i wear bates, converse, or oakley when it comes to tactical boots now.

I've tried Bates and just didn't like the way they felt.
Then again, it's been so long since I've bought new boots that I'm so damn used to my nice broken in ones.
Not to mention that my beloved Mag's have about a 2-hr break-in period. :)

I've never tried Oakley's. There's no place around me that stocks them, and I never buy any kind of shoe unless I know how it fits me.

What kind of environment are you wearing them in, anyway?

i used to love magnums, but lately they just havent been the same.

i used them for general patrol, and swat, for sniper contest i will only wear oakley or converse...too much standing and running is required to not be 100% comfortable.

desert S.W.A.T. are the best boots I've ever worked in

light, comfortable, durable, and easy to slip on or off in a hurry

I don't know if there's a difference between the Tan/Desert and the Black as I have only tried the Tan

I've bought three pairs over the last five years. One lasted forever (still have them & they're my outdoor "work" shoes - my first pair I might add) & the other two fell apart within a couple months. After the last time I sent them a few letters complaining & they gave me a new pair of boots & threw in a bag, t-shirt, hat, & key chain. I still haven't worn those boots yet - I'm happy with my Converse Tactical Boots right now.

That seems to be the consensus of Hi-Tec reviews – either “extreme” hit or “extreme” miss; no middle of the road.
I hope they’ve straightened out their QC issues because just last month I convinced my Dad to buy his first pair.

These all look like very good recommendations.

For a lightweight, simple design, I keep coming back to the Original S.W.A.T. – they're almost identical (at least in appearance) to my old Mag’s.
