It would be interesting to know how a person affords an apartment and living expenses if he doesn't work and get any hand outs from his parents (as Swede affirmed). I want a gig like that. I'd still work though but it would be all gravy.

As an example of how clueless the current generation is on how much harder life was for previous generations who worked so hard, sacrificed so much, to allow us this cushy lifestyle we take for granted a guy I know who is 21 yrs. old, still lives with his parents, and works 20 hours a week so he has time to work out, smoke weed six nights a week and bang countless number of hoes, some as young as 17 (age of consent here is 16). He was complaining to me how expensive everything is getting and how we are in a depression. A depression! All this while he was txting on his Black Berry while driving an '08 Nissan Maxima.

If he had any idea what things were like during the depression he.... never mind! It's a lost cause. I almost don't mind the idea of everything coming to an end in 2012.

In all fairness, being out of work does suck major ass and it is not as easy for everyone to get back on track again as some here would like to think. I've been there and if you don't have a good support system around you it can be a real knockout.

So pellius what did you have to do at 21 to live?

I got my first studio apartment at 18. I worked full time as a security guard Mon-Fri grave yard shift and had another part time security guard job Sat-Sun also grave yard shift. I also worked 3 days a week part time at Sears as a cashier. I did this for a couple of years until I saved up enough money to move to Southern California. I had to wait a year to establish residency so I could get in State tuition to afford to pay for school and went to El Camino Community college before transferring to UCLA. Took me seven and a half years to graduate because I had to work and support myself (along with some student loans that I've paid back).

I'm now back in Hawaii living dream selling pineapples and coconut milk on the side of a freeway so that I can support my meth addiction and achieve the Falcon ideal of "epic leans."

I think you missed the point of my post. It's to show how much softer and complacent we have become as a culture. Compared to previous generations, and compared to how most in this world have to live, we, here in American, have no idea what real hardship and sacrifice is like.

I think you missed the point of my post. It's to show how much softer and complacent we have become as a culture. Compared to previous generations, and compared to how most in this world have to live, we, here in American, have no idea what real hardship and sacrifice is like.

My father and my fathers father worked their ASSES at the "farm" and then he became a carpenter I think its called for their entire life and what does my father have to show for it now? NOTHING but a destroyed fucking body and no money at all and hurting 24/7, why? because he had a shit job and was to proud to complain and get a better one.
Because people of his generation shut their mouths and just do their job and Never ever EVER complain. Should I respect that? hell yes. Does It mean I have to do the same thing? hell no.

I not gonna work my ass of and have destroyed shoulders, back, knees and be in pain 24/7 when im 50 just because I want to say "I worked hard my entire life"

Fuck no, I wanna work as little as possible and make as much money as possible, that might be hard to understand for some people and some of the old people may find it insulting, but I couldn't care less.

Im never gonna be the "man" my grandfather man father was work wise, and Im fine with that. Might sound like generation "nothingness" but Im Not gonna destroy myself. Unless I get paid ALOT.

Ive made the money I have, because I bought in in bulk and sold, and Ive sold about Everything there is, from underwear, to iphones, to mp3 players to pants, to tshirts, to jewelry etc etc etc. Im not stupid. I know how to make money if I want to.
That is alot of work but not HARD work. :)
