As obsessive as it sounds, I always do a little basic sanitizing when staying in a hotel ~ phone, remote, door handles, toilet flusher, and glasses.

Ew! Scary! I’ve seen video like that before. I try not to think about it, but when I do think about it, I eschew glasses in favor of single use plastic cups. Or I’ll bring a plastic or styrofoam cup back to my roam that I have taken from a restaurant. I was just in Hawaii a few weeks ago and they had glasses in the bathroom. I brought back a take out cup that I got from a restaurant. When I left it in the bathroom, it was thrown away by housekeeping… leaving me to use the glasses in the bathroom. Ew!

Based on this photo, can any of you Hawaii fans name this island? Here you see one of my favorite beaches on the island. Not near a hotel and not at all touristy.

Thanks for posting that Princess. I'll defininately make inquiries about single use plastic cups when making reservations. If they don't have them, ...I'll be bringing my own.

Most of the hotels I spend time in have glasses sealed in plastic bags with 'sterilized' on the side.

In any case - for sure, hotels aren't the most hygeinic places on the planet. Saying that, I ate plenty of dirt when I was a kid and I don't think it did me that much harm.

Perhaps people worry too much !

I tend to use and re-use a plastic water bottle that I bring w/me. I hide it in my bag in the closet while I'm out during the day.

Last month we were at a hotel and I woke up very thirsty and hadn't brought my own water bottle so instead of using the glasses I took one of the ~$8 waters out of the mini-bar

I have stayed in hotels and guest houses in 4 different countries this year.
Some of it very Third world.
I just follow some simple rules with food and drinking water and I have never been ill.
If you have to worry about small stuff like this you will never survive.
