I miss pride too 50K plus in attendance knowledgeable fans who didn't boo when the fight went to the ground , some classic fights in pride , I was shocked by how many people who were into the UFC never heard of pride

Apparently the Yakuza presence was what led to Pride losing their sponsorships or at least something along those lines.

I recall reading a interview with Big Nog  in which he mentions  a japanese  street vendor woman approaching him and discussed some of the finer points of jiu jitsu with him. They understand the sport better than the western audiences and usually applaud the "samurai" spirit regardless of what country the fighter may be from.

Rampage used to rant about how the US fans are fickle and boo at the slightest opportunity while Japanese fans are more respectful.
