anybody spending more than $100 on a phone and buys into the whole bullshit marketing crap needs to have a reality check - I mean - you call and recieve calls - maybe emails - but all that crap like facebook and all the aps is just not needed.

This is not 1998.  Today phones have combined cell phones, pdas and computers into one device.  You can check email, open word and pdfs, surf the web etc...

Get over yourself.

False, I'd say I make an 5k due to my mobile devices each year.  Smart phones allow one to conduct business on the run and to get more done.  If your in business, the outlook connect to your corp email and outlook calender + contacts is a must.  Also, apps like the traffic app (shows current traffic conditions) save time and that's not even getting into the ultra fast web browsing.  If your just sending and receiving calls, you've got a point.  That said, you can pick up a new Driod for a couple hundred bucks and considering what it does, thats peanuts.

droid is awesome. Iphone has the better web browser, and can do voice and data at the same time tho.
it depends what you want to do, the nice thing about droid is the OS is open source.

Imo, the Driod has the more responsive touchscreen, and the addition of the keyboard make it better for browsing, imo.  Driod has a shitload of apps and it's cheaper.  Both a great phones.

If you need a phone for business (and are not self employed) your company will provide you with the neccesary tools to conduct business - if they don't give you a "smart"phone you probably don't need it.
And nothing screams middle managment louder than some jackass with his blackberry pretending he has to be on call 24/7

and why exactly do I need that? When I get off work I switch my damn blackberry off - please don't make me believe that the majority of getbiggers are in highleading possitions that requires them to be "online" 24/7 cuz I dont buy that crap.
Overall people need to calm down a little and enjoy their freetime as it was intended to be - free - without mobile phones without constant reminders of their work.

Nothing scream ignorant like the post above.  I take it you've never worked for a large cooperation before?  What exactly does being "on call" mean? Ha-ha, that alone proves you have no idea how a smartphone could help an executive with business.  Let me guess, you write appointments in a planner and keep track of all your email via your desktop. Nothing screams unsuccessful drone more than some goofball walking around with a planner and telling their client, boss, business partner they missed that ultra important email, because they didn't have access to their desktop.  Btw, please give me examples of major cooperations providing their employees with Iphones.  To get ahead in any game you have to be smarter than the next guy and outwork your competition.  Successful companies don't want losers who have to be provided with extra tools to succeed.  It's not cost effective, and the worthwhile people will get it done on their own via organizational methods and personal business plans.  For some that includes a smartphone to stay organized and be connected.

It seems like you enjoy your free time posting on a virtual Internet community.  The wonders of technology, right Stark!?

In Starks defense, most McDonald employees don't need a smart phone so from his point of view it's not necessary.  he's happy with his plastic Mayor McCheese glow in the dark cell phone that has different animal sounds with each button he presses.

The little time I have in my break I come here - I need a good laugh now and then.
And I never said I don't need a blackberry or any smart phone for that matter ;) but the difference is I don't spend my hard earned cash on it - I got one from my company ;)

Its guys like yourself that I don;t understand - you know you gonna buy yourself the newest of the new phone and you be a happy camper for what? 1 week maybe 4? what then? What after the time when the "new" toy has become normal? Yep you've got it you look for some other comercial kick.

Like I said - phones and smart phones have their place in the business world but I doubt it that they really are needed in your freetime.
People need to take their eyes of their little or big screen once in a while or have we become so fucking empty that we constantly have to chat and twitter and share our information with the rest of the world all our little privat details in order to feel wanted and needed?
Cuz make no mistake here folks thats why pages like twitter and facebook are so successfull - because peoples life are completly and utterly empty.
Go for a hike - go see nature - go outside - switch of your mobile phone for 1 day only and see what happens - Nothing - apart from some dippshits that complanined that you weren't "availible" ::) nothing happens - the world is still rotating you have still your job and you're still alife.
I had my smart phone all the time as well - but I made a point but just forcing myself to turn the fucking thing off as soon as I leave work - and it has calmed me down a lot.

Don't take this all personal gloria but most of you guys and your warm attempts to make getbig believe that the world will end if you're not connected some way or form with the internet is just simply bullshit.

FWIW, since the 5.0 OS update the Blackberry Storm has been a great phone for me.

The trouble was, I got it when it came out, and it took a year and the release of the Storm 2 for them to get the original Storm right.

It is now the phone I thought it would be when I bought it.  The iPhone touchscreen and browser are still superior, but the gap has been narrowed, and I enjoy the functionality of a BB.

i'm kinda agreeing with stark on this..i don't know many people out there that need all these things that new phones offer..been in the IT world close to 12 years and most of the dimwits that 'think' they need this shit are usually the dumb fucks that lose, destroy, fuck up, or just completely have no idea how the hell to use these gadgets...i've worked with doctors, lawyers, execs, and these people have no clue wtf is going on with this shit...let me tell you--there's no lawyer out there dicking around with documents on a fucking iphone.

Who cares?  I have a Blackberry Bold 9700, and it works in China, Europe, and probably on the fuccking moon.  AND it has a removable battery, AND it isn't a phone for queer pansy-boys like the "iPhone" is.

DITTO. Iphone = toy for kids. Blackberry 9700 =real phone .....and the battery lasts for fucking ever! unlike on the Iphone. I use it heavily and it usually keeps going for about 2-3 days.

You're not that important stop trying to convince everybody around you otherwise.

I spent $200.00 on a smartphone that keeps me connected, keeps me organized and adds to my personal business plan.  I could give a shit what you think, ha.  The only one that is "upset" here, is you.  Why do you care so much, anyway?  A little insecure in general?  I don't think anyone is trying to say that they are 'important" within this thread (they are merely participating in the topic(s))....I think you are the one who thinks he is "important" because you keep ripping those who chose to purchase a smart phone, in a childish rage.  The hypocrisy is alarming....  Cutting down others for thinking they are overly "important", but thinking you are important enough to dismiss peoples opinions and paint pictures of how they feel or act because they own an Iphone or a smartphone, lol.

I'm shocked that you hold a low position within your major company  ::)  With your attitude and willingness to look at technology as an ali, it's a wonder they haven't made you CEO by now  ::)
