Do steroids affect dental implant?
« on: December 07, 2009, 11:39:05 AM »
I know this might be an unusual question but i made a tooh implant cirgury and  they are being rejected, now the doctor is saying its due to the use of AS and there is no other explanation for it.
for those who know D.r charles yesalis,i called him and he told me "there is no known association with thoot implant failiure and AS" and he found that very hard to believe indeed.
I wonder if anybody went through this experience.

Thanks and Best regards.

Are you a smoker or diabetic? That can cause issues with osseointegration.
Almost always, yes.

hey bro,

I do not smoke i, do not drink i, am normaly very healthy.
i brush my teeth a lot now and followed  the PC recommendations to he line,so i dont know if they made something wrong,if there is something wrong with my system or simply i am one of those natural failure cases has i know that there is up to 5% chances of implant rejection.

In my particular case my system was regenerating Gum instead of Bone and got me a huge infection.

I'm sorry to hear that. Titanium (human-grade) is biocompatible with the body, so that shouldn't be it.

I am not a dentist. I wanted to make it clear.

Was the doctor a specialist with implants?

Also, what was the cause of the tooth loss?

Was your gear UG or HG?

The reason I say this is because it could be from improper procedure, bacteria introduced or existing within the bone starting an infection, or the dreaded pre-existing condition.

Did the doc say anything about perio-implantitis?

I hope he can do something about it. Maybe a bone augmentation or something.
Almost always, yes.

Hi bro,

well, the doctor is known for beeing the number 1 specialist here

most part of the teeth i lost them on my young age due to lack of hygiene and got rotten

the doctor didnt told me anything about perio-implantitis has he didnt had an explanation for my case
but most likely he told me that could be due to bacteria existing on the bone.
the strange thing is that from 11 only 1 survived.

he took the implants off and injected there this thing that is suposed to make the bone grow naturaly but only on the upper jaw
in the lower jaw he didnt because he told me that i have an abnormal bone size has he never saw nobody with the bone percentage i have.

now i have bridges instead of implants and should wait 6 months or so to try the implants again.

thanks.
